The House of St Barnabas is a private members club which uses its profits to fund an Employment Academy, giving people affected by homelessness the support and training they need to find lasting paid employment.

Operating within the 'HR People Data' space of the UK's Revenues and Customs body, I led a large discovery exercise to establish the current compliance state of the HMRC data protection practices, relating to its 65,000 staff.
This was followed by an in depth gaps analysis, identification of inherent risks (where/if relevant) and recommendations being made to enhance the HMRC's compliance with the GDPR.

To monitor compliance with the GDPR and other data protection laws, including managing internal data protection activities, advise on data protection impact assessments; train staff and conduct internal audits.
Build and maintain a Data Governance Framework, including managing the subsequent acitivities required, e.g. managing personal data inventory, Personal Data Impact Assessments, Data Processors/third parties compliance, data audits, policy management, risk and data control structures, etc. 
To be the first point of contact for supervisory authorities and for individuals whose data is processed (employees, customers etc.).
Liaise with key stakeholders in order to design and deploy appropriate data processor contracts and data protection policies where required taking full account of all regulatory and legislative requirements.
Organise staff Data Protection awareness and training. Ensuring staff awareness of the organisations Data Protection Management and the requirements of the GDPR is maintained. 
Responsible for management of data protections incidents and act as an advisor to staff and source of guidance. 
Assist with corporate governance processes as required from time to time, including statutory filings and external correspondence.

JBW is a BPO provider, engaging with Local and Central Government to collect debt owed to Local Authority. Clients include a number of London Boroughs, Transport for London and Highways England. Due to the large volume of data exchange between Government and JBW software platforms, storage, retention, restrictions on usage and the disposal of data were top of my agenda.
I chaired the Groups Governance panel, taking ownership of Quality Frameworks, Vetting, GDPR, Money Laundering, OFCOM regulations (Contact Centre) and all process documents for the entire organisation
