Over the last two decades I have been leading business teams in the US and in Europe with peak annual revenue above $1B.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of my roles has always been the development of my teams.

When I was 27, I got promoted from individual contributor to VP of Sales with a team of 25.

I didn’t get any training or any coaching. I had been a strong contributor and I was expected to become a strong leader, all on my own.

50% of transitioning first time managers are rated as ineffective. And yet, most companies don't do much to help their employees transition from individual contributors to managers.

I have a passion for developing people and I have seen first hand what it takes to become an effective leader.

I want to help as many people as possible in the most effective way. That's why I created The Leadership Launchpad.

Stop worrying about what others think of you. Instead, focus on the positive impact you’re making around you.

A common concern I hear is, “How should I position myself?”

This question often comes from a focus on appearances rather than genuine impact.

Rather than investing time and energy in office politics and appearances, channel that effort into something truly rewarding and impactful.

❓ Consider these questions:

▶️ How can I make a difference today?
▶️ Who am I helping today?
▶️ How do my values align with my actions today?

Stop the meeting madness

Want to be more than just a title? Here's what's holding you back.

The greatest obstacle to our effectiveness and growth as leaders is ego.

Your title is insignificant if your actions and words don’t align with your role’s expectations.

𝗘𝗴𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘂𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸.

We might think we know everything or fear hearing the uncomfortable truth. I’ve been guilty of both.

Too Many Priorities Mean No Priority

In business, it’s easy to think we can do it all.

Meetings pile up, emails never stop, and our to-do list keeps growing. 📈

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵: 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀.

Chasing too many things spreads us too thin.

We get busy but not truly productive.

Instead of making real progress, we just spin our wheels.

To lead well and get things done, we need to prioritize. This means:

Hey First-Time Managers, let’s talk about patience and long-term success 📈

Starting out as a manager can feel like a race to get results quickly.

But let me tell you, one of the most important lessons you’ll learn is the power of 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 ⏳

Here’s why it matters:

1️⃣ 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺:

Investing in your team’s development takes time.

Leaders and Managers, let’s not kid ourselves. At the end of the day, we must deliver results. 
 
I write about leadership mindset, skills, behaviors, values, principles, and best practices drawn from my own experience.  
 
However, this comes with the unspoken assumption that we consistently deliver. 
 
And if we don’t deliver, we must at least outperform our competition. 
 
This is the hard reality we face. 
 
Without cold, objective performance, it’s nearly impossible to sustain a leadership position or foster a positive workplace culture. 
 
A great culture and a happy workplace are essential, and they are usually built on a foundation of solid results and momentum. 
 
It's hard to inspire and motivate without consistent execution and tangible achievements. 
 
Our role is to make our teams successful. And this means, first and foremost, delivering results. 
 
Your results are a way to validate everything that you do (building trust, encouraging continuous learning, your team's development plan, 1:1 meetings, giving and seeking feedback...). 
 
Of course there are some counter examples. 
Can you toxic leader deliver great results? Sure. 
Is it sustainable? Not sure. 
 
When we achieve our goals, we create an environment where our teams can thrive, feel valued, and stay motivated, leading to more achievements. 
 
When we deliver, everything gets easier. 
 
This is our positive leadership flywheel.

Are we setting up young remote professionals to fail? Let's change that.

Many young professionals launched their careers during the pandemic, navigating remote work’s unique challenges.

⚠️There are many challenges that can derail their career trajectory:

▶️ Limited personal connections
▶️ Minimal feedback
▶️ Lack of internal networking
▶️ Fewer “watch and learn” opportunities

To address these issues, consider these 5 simple strategies:

1️⃣ 𝗘𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲-𝘁𝗼-𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀

Schedule consistent one-on-one meetings to provide feedback, discuss goals, and ensure they feel valued and supported.

4️⃣ 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀

Allow them to shadow you or senior team members in meetings and projects to learn through observation and experience.

Young managers, 10 signs that you are on the right track 🚀

Going from individual contributor to manager is not easy.

The transition requires significant shifts in mindset, skills and behavior.

At times you might feel overwhelmed.

Here are 10 little signs that you are probably doing better than you think ⤵️

1️⃣ 𝗡𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺.

You know the cliché "People don't leave bad jobs, they leave bad managers". If your teammates stick around, that's a 👍

2️⃣ 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝗳-𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱-𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂.

Trust me, if you were not on the right track, your boss would spend less time talking about the game or their vacations.

Sounds like you have a great team and they are willing to go to bat for you.

6️⃣ 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱.

That's critical to your mental well being.

7️⃣ 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂.

Not easy because your team is booking meetings left and right. Keep your priorities straight with tools like the Eisenhower matrix and time blocks.

8️⃣ 𝗔𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴.

You are making a difference. Everyday is progress, big or small. That's great!

The impostor syndrome is actually a positive sign. It just means that you care and that you are outside your comfort zone. But if you feel like this 24/7, ask for some help, find a coach or a mentor.
