As a dentist graduated from GDC, Mumbai, I have witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of oral cancer caused by habits such as smoking and chewing tobacco products. It became evident to me that prevention is key in combating this deadly disease. Driven by my passion for preventive oncology, I embarked on a journey to make a difference. I recognized that the oral cavity serves as a vital diagnostic tool, often revealing signs of various diseases at an early stage. This realization fueled my desire to work in this field and promote early detection and prevention. Today, at Oraicle, I have the privilege of serving as an Oral Health Expert. My role involves ensuring the acquisition of high-quality images of the nine areas of the oral cavity in patients with diverse dental lesions. These images are received from multiple sites across India, enabling us to gather a comprehensive dataset. Working in collaboration with a team of Oral Cancer Experts, I meticulously annotate the images, precisely marking the dental lesions. This annotation process plays a crucial role in the development of a machine learning algorithm for our AI tool. By accurately identifying and categorizing these lesions, we aim to enhance the efficiency of oral cancer detection and contribute to the advancement of preventive measures. Every day, I am motivated by the potential impact our work can have on the lives of countless individuals. By leveraging technology and expertise, we strive to empower dental professionals and raise awareness about the importance of early detection. Together, we can create a world where oral cancer is prevented, lives are saved, and individuals can enjoy optimal oral health and well-being.
