Over a decade, I founded an organization & scaled it. But I made many mistakes & learnt painful lessons. I now help Founders & CEOs learn — early in their journey — what I learnt late in mine. Details & my story: I started 321 Education when I was 25. I was driven by a passion to improve the quality of education for some of India’s poorest children and most in-need schools. It was a hard and long journey full of challenges, mis-steps & pivots. I had the drive of a founder but I had to learn how to be a CEO. But over a decade I managed to scale 321 Education successfully. Our programs reached over 300,000+ Students, 20,000+ Educators & 2000+ Schools. A 2019 independent evaluation found that in just 1 year, 321 was increasing student learning 4X compared to the control group. Over this period our team grew to ~100 people and I raised ₹30+ Crores for the organization. There have been several documentaries made on our work & our innovative model has been profiled in 2 books. We have been covered in several well known publications like Indian Express, Financial Times, Business Standard, DNA, Times of India, Education Times, Education Weekly, Mid-Day, the Ken, Huffington Post, The Print, Your story. I have given speeches at TedX, ISB, Economic Times, Teach For India, Teach for All, Acumen, Ashoka, Echoing Green & Central Square Foundation & several others. All of this made 321 Education one of the India’s biggest & most successful education foundations. For my work with 321 Education, I was awarded the prestigious Ashoka & Echoing Green fellowships. I am now the board chair and support our current CEO to take the work forward. Nowadays I spend most of my time on a subject I am very passionate about: Driven Founders scaling their companies & learning to become a CEO. Often these are 1st time founders and/or people who founded their organization in their 20s or 30s, without a long working career. They are extremely driven & have managed to creating something out of nothing. But as their startup scales, the weight of everything starts crushing & overwhelming them. I relate to this group as I was in their shoes and went through a very similar journey. I support them through my consulting, courses & community.
