When I started my career, I thought I had to have it all figured out.
Turns out, the real lessons came from doing things completely wrong. 😅

Here are 5 mistakes I made early on — and what they taught me:


1. Trying to impress instead of learn.
In my first job, I’d spend hours making my presentations look perfect — instead of asking better questions.
Now I realize: growth happens faster when you stop pretending to know it all and start being curious.


2. Confusing being busy with being productive.
I once wore “working late” like a badge of honor.
But half that time was just me… overcomplicating simple things.
Lesson learned: real progress isn’t about hours worked — it’s about clarity and focus.


3. Saying yes to everything.
I thought being a team player meant never saying no.
Until I hit burnout.
Now I know: boundaries don’t make you less committed — they make you more sustainable.


4. Avoiding uncomfortable conversations.
I used to avoid feedback, salary talks, or tough discussions with my manager.
But avoiding discomfort also meant avoiding growth.
Confidence isn’t built by avoiding conflict — it’s built by facing it.


5. Waiting for someone to “notice” my work.
I believed that hard work automatically gets recognized.
It doesn’t.
You have to speak up for yourself — respectfully, but firmly. Self-advocacy isn’t arrogance, it’s awareness.

💡 What I’ve learned:
Your career won’t grow because you avoid mistakes.
It’ll grow because you learn from them, fast.

So if you’re in the messy middle of figuring things out — you’re probably doing it right.

When I started working, I thought —
If I work hard, someone will notice.
If I do great work, my boss will reward me.
If I stay consistent, success will find me.

But that’s not how it works.

People are too busy saving themselves.
No one’s watching your effort as closely as you think they are.

I had to learn that —
💼 You have to ask for opportunities.
📣 You have to speak up about your work.
💰 You have to negotiate what you deserve.

That shift changed everything.

Because once you stop waiting for recognition, you start creating it.
Once you stop chasing validation, you start building value.
And once you stop waiting for someone to choose you — you choose yourself.

It’s not cynicism. It’s clarity.

You don’t need a savior.
You just need courage, consistency, and self-belief.

When I first started creating content, I thought building a personal brand meant looking perfect online.
Spoiler: it’s the opposite. 😅

Here are 5 dumb mistakes I made (so you don’t have to):

1. Trying to sound like everyone else.
I’d scroll through other creators’ posts and think,
Oh, that’s the tone I should use too.
But the moment you try to copy someone else’s voice, your content starts sounding robotic.
The day I stopped writing like an expert and started writing like me, things changed.

2. Posting only when I felt inspired.
I waited for the perfect idea, perfect hook, or perfect day to post.
The truth is—momentum beats motivation.
Your consistency builds trust, not your occasional sparks of creativity.

3. Obsessing over likes and numbers.
At one point, I’d delete posts that didn’t perform well.
Now I laugh thinking about it—because some of my best opportunities came from posts that barely got engagement.
Visibility ≠ Value.

4. Thinking I needed a niche from Day 1.
I wasted months trying to figure out my niche.
But your niche isn’t something you decide—it’s something you discover through doing.
Start messy. Clarity comes later.

5. Forgetting why I started.
At some point, I was creating to impress, not to express.
That’s when I hit burnout.
Now, I create because I enjoy it—not because I have to.

When I started posting on LinkedIn, I had no idea what I was doing.
I thought I was being “strategic.”
Looking back… I was just cringe. 😂

Here are a few mistakes that taught me more than any “growth guide” ever could:


1. Writing like a robot.
I used to write posts that sounded like corporate press releases.
“Leveraging synergies to optimize…” — yeah, no one talks like that.
The day I started writing like I talk, everything changed.


2. Obsessing over likes instead of people.
I’d refresh the app every 5 minutes after posting.
Then I realized — a single message saying, “This helped me,” matters more than 100 likes.
Impact > impressions. Always.


3. Trying to sound like everyone else.
I’d mimic big creators thinking that’s the “formula.”
But it just made me blend in.
Your quirks are your brand — not your captions.


4. Posting inconsistently.
I treated LinkedIn like a gym membership — active for 2 weeks, then ghosted for a month. 😅
Consistency doesn’t mean posting daily.
It means showing up even when you don’t see results yet.


5. Ignoring DMs and comments.
Big mistake. The real magic of LinkedIn happens in conversations, not just posts.
Every connection you build is a door to something bigger.

LinkedIn isn’t about being perfect — it’s about being real.
The moment I stopped trying to “look” smart and started sharing honestly, everything changed — reach, clients, opportunities, all of it.

For the longest time, I believed logic > gut feeling.
But turns out — my intuition was way ahead of me.
Every time I ignored it, life gave me a not-so-subtle reminder. 

Here are a few moments I wish I had listened earlier 


1. Saying yes when I wanted to say no.
I’ve taken on projects that didn’t feel right… just to “be nice.”
It always ended the same way — stress, regret, and burnout.
A polite no is kinder than a forced yes.


2. Staying quiet in meetings.
There were times I had ideas but held back because “what if I’m wrong?”
Weeks later, someone else said the same thing — and everyone loved it.
Lesson: your voice has value. Use it.


3. Ignoring red flags at work.
I once convinced myself “it’ll get better” when it clearly wouldn’t.
Spoiler: it didn’t.
Your gut knows before your brain catches up.


4. Overthinking simple decisions.
Not every choice needs a 3-day debate in your head.
Sometimes your first instinct is the right one — you just need courage to follow it.


5. Doubting my own capabilities.
I used to think, “Maybe I’m not ready yet.”
Truth is — you never feel ready.
But your gut knows when it’s your time.


What I learned:
Intuition isn’t irrational. It’s your experience whispering before logic catches up.
The more I listened to it, the more peaceful and confident my career became.

Now, I still take advice. I still use data.
But I don’t silence that quiet voice inside anymore — it’s been right too many times.
