Growing up in my parent's fruit shop in Mortdale (which was also our home) in the '80s, I saw what was needed to succeed in business; early mornings, late nights, sacrifices - my parents did it all. Being the only child of migrant parents they wanted the best for me and stressed the importance of education. Sometimes I wonder if George, the fruiterer, would have worked. My Father talked me out of it - ‘don’t do it son, you will develop bad knees’. Growing up, I was obsessed with Soccer & Liverpool FC (which continues to this day). I wanted to become a professional Soccer player. But once again my Father talked me out of it - ‘don’t do it son, you will develop bad knees’. Inspired by my parents and LA Law, I chose to become a lawyer after completing a Degree in Economics and Law. As a student, I was able to secure an undergraduate role as a relationship banking officer with ANZ in Business Banking. The experience I gained was invaluable. But there was something missing. I had just completed my law degree and was at a cross road of whether I should pursue banking or law. I was 24 years old and decided to become a lawyer. But the problem was I had no experience in law. I also wanted to travel (without my parents) and go on my dream European Contiki holiday. So after lining up some volunteer work with a small law firm, I resigned from my banking job and travelled. My first legal job was with a small firm in Bexley, called Theodore Solomon and Partners. I worked there from 2004 to 2008. I got admitted as a solicitor in 2005 and went out on my own to establish Sydney Wide Legal in 2008. It has been the best decision I have ever made and have never looked back. It was not easy, but the rewards have been amazing. The most satisfying part of being a solicitor is the people I have met and the relationships that I have formed. I derive a great deal of satisfaction in being able to assist my clients in achieving not only their financial goals but also their life goals, e.g. one of my first clients was a Nigerian man that migrated to Australia. He came with nothing and within 2 years established his very own cleaning company, specialising in forensic and trauma cleaning. I acted in his first purchase of real estate in 2009 and to date have concluded his 17th property transaction. If you are after any legal advice (or have any clients, friends, relatives or any associates that may need any legal advice), then please feel free to reach out. We are in this together!
