Hi there, welcome to my LinkedIn page! My name is Giovanni, but most people call me Gio. I'm a Harvard Business School alum (GMP21) and a former strategy consultant / professional problem solver / fixer who went from Chief People Officer in a rapid growth startup to serving in management / board roles where I balance innovation and growth with regular institutional business strategy & execution. Currently, I'm serving as the Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer for a medium-sized bank in Dubai, where I look after Strategy, Transformation, ESG, CX, BI, Fintech Partnerships, the Innovation Lab, Web3 & AI. At the bank, I also Head our Venture Arm, where I've invested in a Stanford AI / synthetic data startup and an agricultural renewal / carbon credit AI startup (Earth Shot prize winner, Time Magazine's Most Innovative Companies 2024), as well as a leading geospatial holographics company. Outside these roles, I serve on the Board of startups and entities, including the Steering Board of Tumar, a fund between the World Bank and the Government of Kazakhstan. I also work in an advisory capacity to governments, where I've brokered bilateral trade agreements and partnerships. I'm extremely bullish on AI, AR, and robotics and advise several startups and funds in a formal or informal capacity. I'm super passionate about finding use cases for Web3 (DeFi, tokenization, digital assets) for traditional markets and sustainability. I love working on things that I’m passionate about, with great people I can look up to, who share a natural curiosity towards learning and trying new things. To satisfy my creative needs I used to operate a creative agency that has worked with brands like Vans, G-Shock, Virgin and Bloomingdales. Our proudest moment was the production of 'SHE', an award-winning documentary on women empowerment. Lastly, I speak at events and podcasts, do some opinion piece writing and teaching - which I love. I’m a storyteller at heart, and all of these outlets are just different outlets to express myself. I'm a member of YPO, the Harvard Club of NY, The Future Club and Forbes Legacy Pass Web3 private members club.
