Launched to over 8,000 people in it's first month (August 2017), funded by the Mayor's office, and a FREE All Ages monthly event with food festival, retail market, and live stage. Our goal is to create a commercial corridor in SOMA Pilipinas filled with Filipino owned businesses.

*Took a 2-yr hiatus, and now I'm back directing the company again.

I helped build the infrastructure for a grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit performing arts organization with an annual budget of $150,000. This included developing financial and accounting systems, creating new administrative processes, and building the foundation for new community outreach programs.

In 2008, in order to serve the increase in demand for programs, I piloted the expansion of the organization with my business partner and we expanded from 40 members and 2 companies to 130 members, 5 companies, and 3 community programs. I built the administrative infrastructure for the new companies and managed the programs and program staff. I also created and led two new afterschool dance programs in low-income neighborhoods in San Francisco and Oakland.

I also created and produced our annual fundraiser show at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco with a budget of $35,000 which was presented to a sold out audience three years in a row. I planned, facilitated, and prepared materials for board meetings, monthly staff meetings, yearly company orientation, and staff trainings.

I schedule complex interviews for high profile leadership engineering candidates with high attention to detail. Many are urgent schedules with confidential candidates that require "white glove" treatment. Constant communication with admins, hiring managers, recruiters, and sourcers to provide a seamless candidate experience. I manage multiple projects on the team that aim to increase productivity and efficiency for the global tech staffing team.  I also volunteer with the Google for Nonprofits team and host quarterly student events at Google for students from under-resourced communities.

Key Accomplishments:
• Scheduled 287 onsite interviews & 465 phone interviews in the past year; won prize in Feb 2012 for most schedules completed within a 2-month period
• Led an initiative to make a key team process more efficient; process will save over 150 team hours per quarter
• Manage and write communications templates for the team and created multiple successful communications campaigns

*I started as a contractor in Feb 2011 and converted to a full-time position in Oct 2011.

Streetside Stories

I managed all outreach and external communications campaigns, built and maintained partnerships, did presentations at partner locations, disseminated student work via various web and media outlets, and managed the production and publication of an annual student anthology.

Key Accomplishments:
• Coordinated over 80 volunteers and interns at 20 different schools/sites
• Doubled the number of unique volunteers (Engaged over 200+ volunteers in 2010)
• Helped spearhead an effort to revamp Streetside’s entire Salesforce platform

Outreach Coordinator

Through the AmeriCorps VISTA Program, I worked to increase the capacity of a nonprofit literacy arts organization that served low-income and minority students by developing strategic partnerships, recruiting volunteers, creating and revising current processes, and producing events and publications.

Key Accomplishments:
• Founded Streetside’s first Youth Advisory Board composed of 5 youth alumni
• Co-produced annual event at the de Young Museum in SF with over 300 parents, community members, and City Hall representatives in attendance
• Raised $1200 worth of in-kind donations

Gina Mariko Rosales is a #Pinayista, events enthusiast, efficiency nerd, and nonprofit advocate. She is the Founder & CEO of Make it Mariko Events, as well as the Co-Founder & Event Producer of the well-known UNDISCOVERED SF Creative Night Market in SOMA Pilipinas. Prior to founding Make it Mariko, Gina spent 10 years doing corporate & nonprofit event planning, administration, and operations including 7 years working for Google, most recently as the Head of Marketing Events for Google X. 

Gina’s mission is to curate magical, meaningful moments for the community while amplifying the voices of creatives of color. She is committed to curating creative, inclusive, and diverse spaces in the events industry, to challenge the status quo, and pave the way for a new generation of event experience curators.
