Jumu3a mubarak!

The history of Jumu'a ("gathering") centers on its establishment as a weekly day of communal worship in Islam.

It replaced the pre islamic name of the day, 'Arubah. 

It was a market day, a natural occasion for various local tribes to gather in a central location. 

One ancestor of the Prophet Muhammad (sws), Ka'ab ibn Lu'ay, is said to have gathered people of the Quraysh tribe on this day in the Dar an-Nadwa.
 
Then, the religious significance of the day was established with the revelation (Wahi) to the last Messenger of humanity (sws).

The importance of Jumu'ah is highlighted in the Quran (62:9), where believers are instructed to cease worldly engagements and hasten to the remembrance of Allah.

The institutionalization of the Jumu'ah prayer occurred after the hijrah from Mecca to Medina. 

While in Quba on his way to Medina, on a Friday morning, the Prophet and his companions resumed their journey. 

The time for the noon prayer came while they were in the region of Wadi Ranuna'. There, the Prophet led the Salat al-Jumu'ah (Friday prayer) for the first time. 

The site is now marked by the Masjid al-Jumu'ah (Jumu'ah Mosque).
