I've been the 1st or 2nd marketing hire for 5+ products and witnessed small teams, tiny budgets, and massive expectations. Often all at the same time. As you may imagine, this taught me a few things. This taught me to be resourceful, to efficiently hire and work with freelancers, to write & communicate, to define the ideal customer & position products, to fundamentally understand marketing as a whole and its channels separately, to set things up in a way that creates a foundation you can build on. And most importantly – it taught me how to be a strategic doer. I.e. think about the long-term impact while staying hands-on and delivering at the same time. Nowadays, I mostly work with B2B deeptech startups on their go-to-market strategy and execution. I also help founders and small marketing teams find what to focus on, set up their marketing foundations, and get more done with less.
