When I joined GrowthZone, I thought I understood “innovation.”

I've been in MarTech and RevTech my whole career.
Lots of buzzwords. 
AI-powered everything.  
Constant claims of “redefining the future.”

After two months in association management software?
My definition of innovation is evolving.

Associations don’t chase the next shiny tool. 
They chase impact.

They don’t adopt new tech just to get ahead.
They adopt new tech if (and only if) they believe it will help their people connect and learn - the two biggest reasons members join associations in the first place.

Our team just pulled together an infographic on the top AMS trends for 2026, and gave me some great perspective on the space as a whole.

A few things that stuck out:
💡 Personalization hits different when it’s about actual members, not just leads.
💡 “Connected platforms” aren’t a nice-to-have — they’re survival gear.
💡 Non-dues revenue is basically the sleeper superpower of strong associations.

(Consider this just another episode of “Catie discovers things the association pros already knew.”)

Bro, on LinkedIn, everyone’s a 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀. In real life? You’re stress-eating a granola bar at 4PM, wondering if Slack counts as communication.

I’m not saying you gotta be 𝘶𝘯𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘥 online… but at least be 𝘺𝘰𝘶. People don’t buy from bots in Patagonia vests—they buy from 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘴 who sound like they’ve had a real conversation in the past decade.

So if you’re building your brand, networking, or trying to close deals on LinkedIn—ditch the jargon, kill the performative TED Talk tone, and for the love of god, stop saying “s𝘶𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰

At some point, we lost the plot. You can't just tie B2B sales advice to 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘶𝘮𝘢 𝘣𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨. Like, damn, Karen, maybe your burnout 𝘪𝘴𝘯’𝘵 a funnel optimization metaphor.

🔥 𝗣𝗶𝘃𝗼𝘁 (𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝗺𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗵): Look, I’m all for storytelling—but if your pipeline looks like your therapy session, maybe we need a better strategy.

That’s why I keep my sales content actually useful 𝘢𝘯𝘥 actually entertaining—no forced analogies. 

No “my divorce taught me brand loyalty” nonsense, just straight-up tactics that get people paid.
