Some potential energy building in the LLM ecosystem:

- Llama2 had long enough in the spotlight to develop an amazing developer community (orbiting Gerganov's llama.cpp), and it's still breaking new ground continuously on topics like effective quantization, schema restriction, pragmatic fine tuning and more.

- At the same time, Llama2 is OLD and getting lapped on both fundamental capabilities and on cloud distribution by an amazing string of releases with clear commercial mandates (Mistral, DBRX, Claude...). 

Result: a huge gap between what enthusiasts can get out of self-managed LLMs and what businesses can scale practically in production, with both sides missing half the benefits.

How can we catalyze open source innovations and commercial models building on each other?  And which cloud teams are going to step up to the huge arb opportunity of making more of these open source innovations more practical for production use?
