I now live in Boise, ID and I am a regular commuter to Orange County, CA where I have worked for 33 years. Back in 2001, when I was looking to change careers, someone cautioned me against going into commercial real estate. “You should look at another field of business,” a friend counseled. “The competition is fierce in that industry.” My first career was coaching college basketball and I also worked as a [part-time NBA scout. I was looking for another competitive opportunity. My friend’s warning served instead as a call to action. I got hired by a national real estate firm who sought out brokers with a sports background. I love the daily competition to negotiate the best terms for my clients against some of the toughest landlords in the country!
