The National Star Route Mail Contractors Association

The National Star Route Mail Contractors Association (NSRMCA) is one of the oldest transportation trade associations in operation today. It is the trade association for transportation companies that contract with the United States Postal Service and has been officially recognized by the Postal Service, Congress, Department of Labor, Department of Transportation, and other federal and state agencies. Its members, which operate throughout the United States, collectively manage more than $3 billion in Postal Service contracts and are responsible for the local, regional, and national transportation of the mail.

NSRMCA advocates on behalf of its member companies and a national network of more than 1,500 trucking (and 4,000 final mile) transportation suppliers.

I represented owner-operator truck drivers and small business motor carriers in federal and state court regarding interstate commerce, privacy, worker misclassification, and other regulatory matters. I also served as outside counsel to the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA), a national trade association of 160,000 members dedicated to protecting truckers' interests and rights throughout the United States. I provided strategic advice regarding federal and state laws and regulations that impacted the ability of truckers to succeed and represented OOIDA in strategic litigation to protect those interests. I led OOIDA's intervention in the AB5 litigation, challenging California's restrictive independent contractor law, and its initial amicus participation before the Ninth Circuit.

I represented clients at all stages of litigation in federal and state courts throughout the United States. I worked to develop effective, efficient, and creative solutions to advance client interests. My litigation involved an array of matters including trade secret misappropriation, breach of contract, business tort, the Second Amendment, and other constitutional claims.

The Institute for Justice (IJ) is a national impact litigation law firm that engages in cutting-edge, civil rights litigation. 

I principally advocated on behalf of commercial clients confronted with onerous, arbitrary, and protectionist regulations throughout the United States in both federal and state courts. I obtained extensive experience at every stage of litigation and client representation, including in leadership positions.

When not litigating in the court of law, I advanced my clients' interests through legislative reform and public policy campaigns. I successfully represented my clients' interest before multiple legislative committees to block adverse proposals and advance favorable legislation. 

I also managed IJ's summer associate program from 2014-2018.

I am an experienced attorney and policy advocate for business interests throughout the nation. During my career I have represented companies in federal and state court, provided regulatory and legal guidance, and successfully executed comprehensive, multifaceted strategies on behalf of national trade associations and businesses of all sizes. My work today focuses on the transportation industry, including both non-asset and asset-based companies.

As the Executive Director for the National Star Route Mail Contractors Association (NSRMCA), I am responsible for the operation of the association, its growth and profitability, guiding association members in their relationship with the United States Postal Service, and advocating on behalf of a national network of transportation suppliers to the United States Postal Service (USPS), Congress, federal agencies, and other industry stakeholders. I am also responsible for advising the association on the impact of legal and regulatory developments in the transportation industry.
