I am privileged. 

My unfair advantage is my voice and power to use it. 

Real privilege is in freedom and choice. 

Not just social position. 

So yes, I am privileged. 

You know I come from India.

Back home many of my female friends aren’t allowed to work. 

Despite their education and wealthy backgrounds.

If they work, they:

- Can’t prioritize family life
- Will have unwanted opinions 
- Won’t lean in traditional gender role 

Why should they even bother?

Their husbands/ fathers are earning well. 

So they can be the princesses they are. 

We were fed false narratives. 

My world exposure taught me well.

There’s a power play at hand. 

And I urge you to break free.

In my family, I was the first woman:

- To study abroad
- To start a business 
- To marry outside my caste 

(yes it’s still a big deal)

Things didn’t come easy. 

But they happened eventually. 

Yes, I recognize my privilege. 

This is why I do the work I do. 

I share my stories.

Hoping to inspire you to share yours. 

I am using my privilege to open up dialogues. 

How are you using yours?

I came back after a 4-month disappearance.

Here’s my progress so far:

This is the strategy I followed:

1. Posted 5 times a week

- Mix of content pillars 
- Posted out of my usual time
- Experimented with content formats 

2. Shared spicy stories:

- And not-so-spicy ones
- Spoke about relatable topics
- Wrote like I would talk to a friend 

3. Build a community 

- Started conversations in DMs 
- Doubled down on commenting
- Had pinned comments on my posts 

4. Invested in a coach

- Worked on a sales strategy 
- Optimised my LinkedIn profile
- Also invested in self-paced courses 

5. Showed up offline

- Attended networking events
- Build in-person connections
- Unapologetic self-promotion 

Some key takeaways?

- Don’t overthink LinkedIn. 
Restart and figure it out. 

- Experiment a lot. 
That’s the only way to get answers. 

- Be kind to people. 
It all comes back in the end. 

- Share stories. 
That’s how you make connections.  

All you need is the right mindset. 

But some strategies don’t hurt either.

I disappeared for 4 months from LinkedIn. 

Life happened. 
Loss happened. 
Business continued. 

I still worked with my clients. 

- Launched client’s podcast
- Executed email campaigns 
- Marketed monthly masterclasses 

Was it easy juggling loss and work? No

Was I a Hot. Mess. Express.? Absolutely

But you know what?

That’s the beauty of running a business. 

You can build in silence. 
You choose how you show up.
You still feel those damn feelings.

There’s no one way to be an entrepreneur. 

Be a paradox.

P.S. Did you notice something different about my post today? 👀

My trauma made me book a flight to Prague.

I love to travel. 

But this time it was different. 

I experienced a personal loss. 

The trip was planned not to experience life. 

But to run away from it. 

You see when tragedy strikes, you:

- fly 
- fight 
- freeze

My stress response was to run.

Running away led to running into myself. 

It was a journey of self-discovery and many realizations. 

7 things I learned during this trip:

- Sometimes a change of place can make all the difference. Even if it's for a while.

- You must let go of who you are to become the person you have never been. 

- Happiness comes in the form of kind strangers.

- Traumas are glorified. 
Not all traumas make you strong. 
Some trauma gives you paper-thin skin.

- The healing process takes a ridiculously long time. 

- What is life without movement, good food, and a great view? 

- You can be happy and sad at the same time. 
You are a paradox. 

I don’t know who needs to hear this but when life happens, it’s not business as usual. 

The best thing you can do is take a pause. 

New place and people. 

Whatever dang works for you. 

Give yourself the gift of restarting again. 

The world can adjust. 

You say you will do it. 

You then talk yourself out of it. 

You want to write.

Share your ideas with the world. 

But a little voice tells you this is not who you are. 

You are not a writer. 

You are not supposed to share your thoughts outside your journal. 

It tells you all the things you can’t do. 

Just then another voice creeps in. 

An honest one telling you can. 

It reminds you of all the words you ever wrote. 

The love-struck letters to your first lover. 

And the next. 

Your partners changed. 

But words remained your soulmate. 

They stayed all along. 

Or, that 2 am text to your bestie after a bad breakup. 

You didn’t twice to write, did you?

So why are you overthinking now?

Words never failed you then, why would they now?

Your words are meant to be shared. 

With a lover. 
With a friend. 
With the world. 

Don’t preserve them for your sake.

1. The origin story because you’re the main character

Why it works:

- It speaks about your unique journey
- Shows your personality, values and beliefs
- Your reactions to the main events in your life 

Prompts:

- How did you get here?
- What was the rock bottom? 
- The highest and lowest points 

Spicy example:

“15th Nov 2019: I moved to Sweden.

After I got married to “follow” my husband.”

2. The story of your customers

Why it works:

- Creates a sense of community 
- Their stories are part of your tapestry 
- Learnings that are beneficial to readers

Prompts:

- How did they inspire you?
- How did you inspire them?
- Why did they stick with you?

Spicy example:

“I signed a client while restricted on LinkedIn.

Personal branding is a magical world.”

3. The story of your lifestyle

Why it works:

- You become even more desirable 
- You sell the promise of an experience
- Your offer becomes a part of a larger cause 

Prompts:

- What are your audience passions?
- What is your readers’ ideal lifestyle?
- How can you help them achieve that?

Spicy example:

“I spent September co-living and working in rural Spain.

Here are my 14 weird observations:”

To become visible, dare to be invisible first.  

Hang in there, mate. 

One comment at a time. 

Good things are in store for you.

“How do you measure a story’s success?”

A lead asked me recently. 

I would start by defining my story’s goals: 

1. How do I want my audience to FEEL? 

Happy? Inspired? Empowered?

You tap into their core emotions. 

2. What do I want my readers to DO after reading the story?

Sign up? Book a call? Visit a website?

You entice them to action. 

You can measure success by sales made. 

The numbers give you the truth.

But when they don’t, look at your DMs and comments. 

They tell you more than numbers ever will. 

That’s how you measure success by the lives touched.

P.S. What metrics are you looking at?

At 34 I embraced my writer identity publicly. 

In Jan last year, I took a 100-day posting challenge.

I was the new kid on the block. 

Nobody knew me. 

I could be whoever I wanted to be. 

It was both beautiful and brutal.

Out of anyone I could become, I didn’t choose myself.

Such a shame! 

The thing is when you’re new to the game, you want to impress. 

Your identity is dependent on:

Follower count 
Virality of your posts
Engagement on your content 

You choose a character that’s winning. 

Only to lose yourself playing it. 

You are desperate to fast-forward your way to success. 

Looking for viral topics. 
The copy-paste templates. 
Falling for the overused LinkedIn voice. 

Heck, the quest made me a copycat of two accounts I adore.

It was damn exhausting. 

So here I am now. 

Reinventing myself. 

Telling myself it’s not too late to evolve. 

My watch confirms the time is right. 

Oh honey, please kill your darlings. 

You won’t be called a murderer. 

No, I don’t mean the people you love.

It's those unnecessary words that caress your scribbler’s heart. 

“Kill your darlings” is a writing advice.

It refers to assassinating irrelevant parts of your story. 

Here’s how to do it guilt-free:

- Write your first draft. 

- Run away the fastest from the laptop.

- Come back after an hour or even a day. 

- Read your copy and ask “So what?”

- Keep the main points and delete the rest. 

Kill objectively. 

Only the darlings that don’t serve your readers. 

The rest can survive. 

You will still be understood well. 

P.S. Have you heard of this concept before? 

Nobody cares about your content. 

Nobody cares about your business. 

Heck, they don’t even care about your offer. 

What they really care about is:

👉🏼 How your writing makes them feel. 

So next time don’t describe your offer. 

Paint a picture of what your offer *feels* like. 

❌ I am a mindset coach. 

✅ I bring your vision boards to reality.


❌ I am a stress coach. 

✅ Because you don’t deserve Sunday scaries every damn week. 


❌ We are a home-cooking kitchen. 

✅ We can’t cook like your mum. 
But if you’re missing home, 
Our food will remind you of hers. 

Think about what you want your readers to feel. 

Then write like it. 

That’s how you make them care. 

That’s how you become a great writer. 

What are you doing? Showing or telling? 💭

I was walking on the street.

I heard a man playing the guitar. 

In the guitar case below, a note read:

“To send my daughter to play school.”

I immediately put Rs 100 there. 

I imagined him sending his daughter off to school.

Proud, joyous, and teary-eyed. 

That’s the power of a story. 

It touches the right chords.

Moving people to action.
