If you're in comms and want to make your media interviews more productive or if you think your events could run more smoothly, my team and I are here to help. If you or your clients had "media training" a while back and your message has changed, talk to us. I'm a media mentor, a journalist, author, event MC, futurist speaker. In the corporate world my aim is to make engagements with the press more productive for clients. So often a spokesperson is misquoted (and this may not be the fault of the journalist) or the writer takes control of the interview with the interviewee getting nothing out of it. I've been that journalist and have seen how spokespeople could do better. Ask me about media training sessions or ongoing coaching. After 30 years as an IT journalist I specialise in the tech sector but I've helped elsewhere as well. My team includes camera operators to support training sessions, an actor to help with presence on screen or on stage, a seasoned newsreader and a leadership coach. I am a frequent and experienced event MC / emcee / compere and will take on a lot of the running, chasing and speaker briefing when engaged to make your conference run smoothly. I also offer training and coaching services to people in the corporate world who suddenly find themselves obliged to speak at events or MC them, In November 2012 I reached Fellowship of the Professional Speaking Association. I've spoken on media and on outsourcing and other tech issues in ten countries spanning two continents over the last couple of years. I have a podcast called the Near Futurist which has gone from a standing start in late October 2018 to a steady stream of 5000+ monthly listeners within a few months. I'm the author of "This Is Social Media" (2009) and "This Is Social Commerce" (2012). I also co-wrote "The Joy of Work?" (2009). The first of those books was in Amazon's top ten sellers on retail until late 2012 - and has dipped back in a couple of times since then. I've moved on and now blog about media and communications in general. I had a four-year stint on the BBC News Channel, UK, reviewing the papers on live TV. This was based on my experience as a journalist; I had my first staff job in the field in 1989 and have been plugging away at it ever since. You might have found me because you were searching for: media training, media trainer, speaker, MC, emcee, compere, events, futurist, near futurist, writer coach, PR training, journalist, public relations training. Let's talk - you can get hold of me on 07973 278780, Guy@Clapperton.co.uk or message me on LinkedIn.
