Contract mechanical engineering at customer site. Using Siemens NX for component design, improvement, and design verification using embedded NASTRAN for FEA, including nodal analysis, linear statics, and non-linear gap-contact analyses to predict fastener loads in extreme conditions, also design work and tolerance studies of high-precision assemblies. Redesigned and verified working load limits on positioning equipment for complex, delicate electron microscopy columns. Solved sensor pin breakage in interlock switch. Reduced leakage of a high-voltage electrostatic measuring system by 100x to a picoamp level. Eliminated pin stubbing problem in a shrouded header vs. cable receptacle problem. Characterized and invented an improved inspection method for a high-precision 1mm carbon-ball radial contact bearing.

Investigated and solved tolerance stack-ups and misalignment problems, improved tension control of continuous fabric belt in a reciprocating cassette. Wrote VBA macro to compress and plot Instron tension data cloud of over 10,000 records. Completed over 60 projects in 18 months on first contract.
Began 2nd contract as connector and cabling expert, then trained my replacement while moving on.

Also assisted RLA in developing Business Development Manager role, including selection and implementation of CRM, internal documentation of sales and marketing processes, sales opportunity workflow, and customer presentation tools. Met 6-week goals in 4 weeks.

Steered cost reduction of digital ultrasound connector; simplified design saved of $318,000 annually. Solved fin breakage, cover cracking, and contact location problems that had plagued a product line for 3 years. Instructed 3 engineers to intermediate proficiency in Pro/Engineer.
