I figured out why my posts get read and yours don't.

It's stupidly simple.

Everyone on LinkedIn leads with the conclusion. 

They summarize everything in the first line,
because they're terrified of being unclear. 

And that's EXACTLY why nobody reads past it.

The trick is called the curiosity gap. 
It's stupidly simple: 

You open a loop and don't close it right away. 

The reader's brain HATES unfinished business, so they keep scrolling to find the answer.

Here's how to actually use it:

- Tease the outcome, not the method. 

"My kid flushed my AirPods and now I'm a better parent" 
beats 
"Tips for managing screen time." 

One hooks you instantly. 
The other sounds like a pamphlet.

- Use specifics that spark questions. 

"One Zoom call, pants optional, camera accidentally on" makes people lean in. 

Safe statements like "remote work has its challenges" make people keep scrolling.

- Lead with stakes, not solutions. 

Nobody cares about your organizational system until you admit you once used a coffee filter as toilet paper because you forgot to buy more. 

Start with rock bottom.

Stop explaining everything in your first sentence. 
Your hook isn't a summary. 
It's a teaser.

Give them enough to spark curiosity, then deliver the goods in the body.

That's the whole game.

If I woke up as a MAN tomorrow, 

Here's what I would do:

- Go to the bathroom in groups of zero (imagine the freedom)

- Nod at other men as a complete form of communication

- Believe my 3-in-1 shampoo/conditioner/body wash is "basically a skincare routine"

- Own exactly one towel and thinking that's sufficient

- Leave exactly one bite of food in containers so I don't have to throw it away (not my job now)

- Need a medal for watching my own children

I worked with a lawyer,

Who couldn't stop lawyering.
This is what happened next.

Hired me because he "had no time for social media." 

Great! That's literally why I exist.

Week 1: I sent him 4 posts. Clean, professional, engaging.

Week 2: He sends back his "edits." Every post is now 47% longer and includes phrases like "pursuant to" and "heretofore mentioned." 

On LINKEDIN. I gently suggest we keep it conversational.

Week 3: He's rewritten my rewrites. One post is now 9 paragraphs about trust modification statutes. Zero line breaks. 

It appears to be a terms and conditions page.

Then he called me, frustrated that his posts weren't getting engagement.

My guy, NO ONE wants to read a legal brief on their lunch break.

Lesson learned: If they wanted to write it themselves, they wouldn't have hired you. 

Who writes your LinkedIn post?

Forget "I LOVE YOU". 

That's nothing compared to seeing "Invoice PAID".

Nothing and I mean NOTHING gets the butterflies going quite like "Payment received".

Romeo had his balcony scene. 
Jack and Rose had the Titanic. 

However, I have a client who doesn't require 17 follow-up emails to pay their invoice.

That's TRUE love, baby. 
That's commitment. 

That's "till death do us part" energy.

Honestly, if your significant other looked at you the way I look at my bank notification that says "Deposit successful," they'd probably feel a little threatened. 

And rightfully so.

So here's to all the freelancers, business owners, and entrepreneurs out there: 

May your invoices be paid on time, your clients communicate clearly, 
and your "payment successful" notifications be plentiful.

Because THAT'S the real happily ever after.

Insta just made me insecure,

About a body part I forgot I even had.

My nose. MY NOSE.

So there I was, casually scrolling at 11 PM, 
When suddenly a girl appears talking about "the perfect nose."

Perfect angle. Perfect slope. Perfect nostril-to-face ratio or whatever.

And my brain, that absolute TRAITOR, went: 
"Wait... what about YOUR nose though?”

Next thing I know, I'm in the bathroom doing a full forensic analysis. 

Turning left. Turning right. 

Trying that weird angle where you look up your own nostrils 
(you know the one, don't lie).

That's when I realized:

I woke up this morning perfectly happy with my nose. 
It was doing its job, breathing, smelling, holding up my glasses. 

We had a good thing going.

But 30 seconds of social media and suddenly I'm questioning a body part I've successfully used for YEARS without complaints.

Remember that before Instagram, people just had... faces. 
And they were fine! 

Your nose has been with you through thick and thin. 

It doesn't need an Instagram audit.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go apologize to my nose. 
We good, buddy. We good.

He had confidence,

What he didn’t have was a SINGLE usable photo.

New client walks in.
Perfect for personal branding.

Me: "Alright, let's build your brand! Are you okay with using photos?"

Him: "Is it important?"

Me: "Well, yeah, people connect with faces…"

Him: "See, I'm not AGAINST photos...I just don't have any."

Me: "What do you mean you don't have…"

Him: "I'm always the one taking photos of other people. Family events, vacations. I'm the designated photographer.

Does my LinkedIn profile pic from 2016 count?"

We raided his wife's phone.
Found 183 photos of him sleeping on the couch, 

67 "candids" of him loading the dishwasher wrong, 
41 shots of just his back at various family events, 

And ONE semi-decent photo from a wedding.

He's mid-chew. Mouth full of cake. Eyes half-closed.

"This one," I said.
Cropped it.
His engagement rate went up 340%.

April 2025. 

The month that should've been my LAST.

My business didn't just slow down, it shut down completely. 

The debt letters started coming. 
One after another. 

My mother's worried eyes would find mine and ask questions I had no answers for.

I'm the breadwinner.
And I was crumbling under the weight.

I stood there one day in April, and I decided I was done. 

The shame was eating me alive. 
The fear was suffocating. 

Every breath felt heavy. Every morning felt impossible.

I was going to end it.

I was a praying Muslim.
Five times a day. 

Born Muslim. Raised Muslim. Fasted every Ramadan.
But I had never actually felt Him.

Allah was a name I said.

He wasn't my refuge. He wasn't my peace. He wasn't mine.

That day in April, when I was ready to leave this world, something happened that I still can't fully explain.

I collapsed. Not into death. Into something else.

Surrender.

I fell to my knees and I cried in a way I had never cried before. 

The kind of crying that empties you out completely. 

The kind where you can't speak, can't think, can't do anything but feel.

For the first time in 22 years, 
I felt Allah. 

Not as a distant creator. Not as a judge waiting to punish me. 

But as the Most Merciful. As the One who sees. 

As the One who was there all along, 
waiting for me to stop performing and start connecting.

I found Islam that day. At 22. After a lifetime of being Muslim.

Today, my business is thriving in ways I couldn't have imagined back in April. 

My life is full. The debt is gone. My family is provided for.

But that's not the miracle.
The miracle is the peace.

I CAN'T explain it to you. 

I don't have words big enough. It's the kind of peace that sits in your chest even when life gets hard. 

I still devote hours of my day to the Quran. 

To learning. To understanding. To sitting with His words and letting them change me.

Not out of obligation. 
Out of love.

I LOVE Allah.

I LOVE Him in a way that makes my voice shake when I say it. 

In a way that brings tears every single time I think about what He saved me from. 

In a way, I didn't know a heart could love.

He took the girl who wanted to die and gave her a reason to live that's bigger than business.

You will have to find Islam even if you're born a Muslim.

We're praying like we're bothering Him.

Bro, He WANTS you to ask.

Allah creates you, gives you free will, a soul, consciousness, and a standing invitation to ask Him for ANYTHING...

And you hit Him with "please let my package arrive on time."

BROTHER. He's the LORD OF THE WORLDS.

Our prayers are like

"Um, excuse me, sorry to interrupt, I know you're busy with the whole universe and everything, but um... could you maybe... if it's not too much trouble... help me find my keys?"

MY GUY. He knows where your keys are. He knows where EVERYTHING is.

Ask Him to guide you to your life purpose while you're at it!

We really need to upgrade our dua game from "Please Allah" to "YA ALLAH, THE MOST POWERFUL, watch this request."

Stop thinking so little of Allah, your duas should reflect His limitless power, not your limited mindset.

I just had THE MOST STRESSFUL best friend reunion ever.

My girl moved to my city 2 weeks ago, and I was hyped! 

But then we started talking about her life and I realized... sis is in CRISIS and doesn't even know it.

She's in university. Cool. 
But she has NO IDEA what she's studying. 

I asked her "what's your major?" and she went "uhhh... it's complicated." 

IT'S NOT COMPLICATED, YOU JUST DON'T KNOW!

This girl is out here wasting her PRIME YEARS, sitting in classes for a degree she can't even pronounce.

So I've made it my personal mission to save her. 

I'm getting her OUT of that university even if I have to physically escort her off campus myself.

Is this what best friends do? Yes.
Am I being dramatic? Possibly.
Will I succeed? ABSOLUTELY.

Pray for me and my patience. This is going to be a JOURNEY.

Am I a good friend?

Me: types "the decision was important."

Also me: "I've used 'important' literally twice already."

My brain: "Use a different word."

Me: "Okay... significant?"

My brain: "Too formal."

Me: "Crucial?"

My brain: "Too dramatic."

Me: "Vital?"

My brain: "Are we writing a medical textbook?"

Being a writer means constantly Googling "synonyms for" basic words you've already used twice in a single sentence. 

It's an endless cycle of self-doubt, linguistic perfectionism, and questioning whether "consequential" is even a real word people use in conversation.

Spoiler: It's not. But you'll consider it anyway.
