I used to think the key to my success was more followers,
More followers = more credible = more opportunities
Actually… THIS will bring you way more opportunities ↴

🌟 being friendly 🌟

Sounds simple, doesn't it?

But I honestly think it's something that a lot of people seem to have forgotten these days… (oops, lol)

When I was on the sidelines, it seemed like the best opportunities would go to those with the most followers.

(Or those with the most money 👀)

In reality?

The best opportunities go to the people who are easy to get along with:

🎆 Ones who reply regardless of follower count
🎆 Who actually make a genuine effort with people
🎆 Who make others feel comfortable instead of intimidated

I’ve seen people with “small” platforms land insane opportunities!!
..simply because they’re warm, open and genuinely interested in others.

And there’s people with big audiences who are still struggling because they don’t do a good enough job at connecting with people.

Yes, a big following will help get you noticed.

But friendliness is what will get you *remembered*

I have ADHD so I have to be extra intentional with my communication
If I’m not mindful, I can come across a little intimidating 🥲
(also… let’s blame the Scorpio rising while we’re here hahaha)

It’s definitely a skill…
One you can practise, refine and get better at.

And in my opinion, it’s one of the most powerful ones you can build!

So if you’re holding yourself back because you’re comparing your audience size, telling yourself “what’s the point? i’m so far behind…”

You’re wrong.

Before I started posting myself, I thought creators with super successful platforms had access to some sort of secret I would never be able to access.

But after paying closer attention, and working on my own creator platform for 2 years…

I now know that there is no “secret”, but there are 5 key traits every successful creator has:

🎆 → They question instead of give up

↳ When something flops, they don’t tell themselves they’re “terrible” and “not made to do this.
Instead, they ask “What can I try differently next time?”, “What can I learn to be better?”

↳ Top creators don’t wait until they’re “perfect” or “expert enough” to start sharing…
Instead, they show they’re human. And that’s what people connect to.

🎆 → They have resilience

↳ They’re not afraid to try new things and fail publicly. Even in front of hundreds of thousands, sometimes millions of people. This fuels innovation.

🎆 → They make creation easy

↳ Instead of forcing time into their schedule for content creation, they make it easy to fit in around their lives. Less overthinking, repetition and systems.

↳ Their brand is what makes them instantly recognisable and gives them serious longevity. They focus not just on as many numbers as possible, but on clear values, a distinct voice, and a consistent point of view.

Talent helps, for sure...

I’m sure you’ve seen everyone and their dog is rebranding themselves for 2026.
Honestly, I LOVE it.

New Year is my absolute favourite holiday because I adore reflecting and setting new goals.

I love exploring new possibilities and new crazy visions for my life.

Last week I set my goals for myself, Althea Sky Design and Rebel Design Club, and this next year is going to be *so iconic*, eeeek!

💅 I’m seriously ready to be the hottest, richest and happiest version of myself.

But, I’m not just stopping at planning and visualising…

This is about execution and making the right moves in order to achieve those goals I’ve laid out!

So, here’s 7 key habits I’ll be adopting in 2026,
(and 7 habits you should adopt too):

1 → 💸 One that makes me money

I want to make this next year my highest revenue year yet.
To do that I’ll be testing new marketing tactics for the first time in my business.

You could also;

Start investing
Launch a product
Work on your side hustle

2 → 🏃‍♀️ One that keeps me active

Health is wealth. I’ll be making more time for movement this year.

Walking more
Regular gym sessions
A class or 2 every week

3 → 🎨 One that fuels my creativity

This is important for anyone, creative or not.
My work is creative so it’s important I fuel that by:

Working on passion projects
Visiting more art galleries
Learning new creative skills

4 → 🧘‍♀️ One that keeps me grounded

I’ve been journalling almost daily for the past 6 years.
I plan to keep this up going into the new year.

Grounding can also look like:

Meditation
Regular therapy
Morning/evening rituals

5 → 📘 One that expands my knowledge

“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” as Benjamin Franklin said.
I plan to read more business books to support my business goals.

You could also:

Travel more
Listen to podcasts
Invest in courses

6 → 👭 One that keeps me connected

We’re social beings. We need each other to survive!

This year I want to find more business-owners to connect with.

You could also:

Co-work with your friends
Attend local group classes
Join an online community like Journee Girls Club

7 → 💪 One that challenges me

The best way to grow is to move beyond fear in ways that challenge us.

I really want to create more video content,
even though I don’t really know what I’m doing and I find it difficult!

Go full-time on your business

It's so important to be intentional with how you spend your time and energy.

I know it sounds a bit random. But hear me out.

Each of us fit into a certain style of public speaking that feels the most natural to speak to an audience.

↳ So it would make sense that when WRITING content for our audience, in a way that feels authentic and most natural, that our public speaking profile will come in handy.

(As a designer by trade, this has made copywriting soooo much easier.)

Here's the 4 Public Speaking Profiles;

1: 💬 Fascinator

→ They share their knowledge and wisdom (facts & data) to reassure their audience they're a reliable and credible source.

2: 🤩 Inspirer

→ They have an endearing spirit and share relatable stories that help their audience feel super inspired.

3: 😅 Performer

→ They are natural entertainers who find it easy to relate to many people in their audience and make them laugh.

4: 💪 Energiser

→ They have the ability to fire people up with confidence and motivate them to get sh*t done.

Pretty cool, right?

Now when you're writing you can keep your profile in the back of your head and think...

"This is how I naturally best come across to my audience, so I want to feed that into my content..."

Keep pushing to learn and grow!

& my life + work has completely changed because of it ↴

I’ve had so many incredible opportunities all because I decided to start posting here…
and then never stopped!

Here’s just a few examples:

If you’re a designer and want to build a following this year,
one that brings you the CRAZIEST opportunities…
you need to make THIS 🔑 mindset shift ↴

You need to choose to view yourself not only as a designer,
but as a *creator*.

You’ve been seeing your favourite designers win whilst you watch on from behind your phone screen for far too long.

You’ve been watching them;

→ Go full-time on their freelance business
→ Work with clients you want to work with
→ Get recognition for their skills from their audience
→ Partner with your favourite brands + earn money doing so
→ Be invited to the coolest industry events
→ Be sought after by brands, not the other way around
→ Earn money with uncapped potential

But the thing is, they’ve achieved all of that by becoming creators.
(Alongside being a designer).

They not only dedicated the time and energy into creating the content,
but they decided that’s who they are...

and showed up as that person every day!

…even at the beginning before any of the “cool stuff” above existed.

Instead of defining themselves as one singular thing,
without the skills of someone who creates content online…
They:

🌟 Learned the skills necessary to create great content
🌟 Posted and iterated based on analytics + feedback
🌟 Showed up on days the didn’t really feel like it
🌟 Did it even though they felt unqualified
🌟 Posted even though it was scary

Because that’s what an already successful content creator does.

And most importantly:

🎆 They declared they would not be a designer who lives in the sidelines any longer.

That’s exactly what it takes.

So the real question is…

Are you willing to put in that graft before it becomes anything worthwhile?

If yes, then you’re on your way to an endless stream of possibilities!

If no, then I’ll wave to you in the sidelines until you’re ready to go after what you want 👀

🥲 2025 was supposed to be the BEST year of my business.

The reality? It was the most challenging year yet…

Granted, it’s only my second year as a full-time business owner, lol.

But after an amazing start in 2024,
I naturally expected the momentum to keep going.

Don’t get me wrong, it really has in SO many ways.

- I’ve worked with incredible clients this year
- I’ve doubled last years revenue (woop!)
- Secured my first 4-fig brand deals
- & so many more…

The thing is, I set massive ambitions for this year.

Unfortunately many of them have taken a back seat. 

Here’s the other side to the success:

- Moving to a new country was way harder than anticipated
- Navigated Bangkok’s first major earthquake
- Tore my knee trying to make friends in the city (lol)
- Unable to walk properly for months
- Got seriously burned out by taking on too much work at once
- Fell a bit out of love with LinkedIn (😭)
- Struggled with the guilt of underdelivering with RDC
- Was admitted into hospital after a serious health-crash
- Dealing with the pressure of scaling 2 x businesses
- Navigating my own expectations of myself
- Still struggling with daily seizures with no clear answers yet

I was on track to hit my first 6-figures at the start of the year…

Jan → April showed me it was definitely possible.

Then annoyingly, life got in the way. 

And you know what, f*ck it, that’s okay!

Manyyy of the above factors I couldn’t have predicted.

That’s life and THAT’S BUSINESS BABY. 

What matters is that you keep on pushing regardless!

If you haven’t hit all of your goals this year,
don’t let it stop you trying!

the luck: ↴

- one too many all-nighters
- sheer obsession with the work
- posting on LinkedIn consistently
- analysing my content to see what works
- cutting off friends who weren't supportive
- pushing through even when i'm desperate to quit
- choosing to be better than i was yesterday
- surrounding myself with entrepreneurs
- taking educated but scary risks 

etc, etc, etc

of course, i have unfair advantages...
...being born in a western country is the biggest one!

but success comes from relentless dedication and never giving up.

here's to us *all* being successful in 2026!

I am a CHRONIC over thinker... (seriously ugh)

But this 🔑 mindset shift took me from STUCK → SUCCESSFUL

I spent years delaying action because I yearned to make everything *perfect*, and tbh, I still struggle with this now!

2020: “I’ll share my work/expertise once I’m talented enough”
2025: “My posts need to perfectly lead to a direct outcome”

5 years apart... Same struggle 💀

Battling this mindset is hard work.

In the past it kept me in the stuck in the sidelines…
But now when I catch myself spiralling, I remember;

→ Quantity LEADS to quality.

🌟 Clarity comes from doing more, not thinking more.
💅 Confidence comes from showing up.
🎆 Momentum comes from repetition.

Here’s how to apply that IRL:

1: Set output goals, not outcome goals.
↳ “I’ll post 3 x a week” > “I’ll get 10 leads from this post”

2: Give yourself permission to practice and have fun.
↳ Not every post needs to convert in some way… clarity comes with quantity.

3: Create before you consume.
↳ Write at least one post or idea before scrolling and overthinking. Even if it’s terrible.

The age old rhetoric of “quality over quantity” honestly plagued me for years… but shifting that to “quantity leads to quality” finally set me free!

If you’re stuck in your head right now, this might be a good one to remember.

Anyone else struggle with this?

💀 Everyday I get asked the same question…
”Hannah, how do I attract clients with my content?
9/10… they’re NOT focusing on THE most important thing ↴

→ focusing on being the “best”

If you’re at the start of your journey, forget trying to get clients.

You need to focus on being the best at what you do, and then showing evidence of that!

If you’re a designer, work on your craft,
and then show the evidence you’re great by:

🎆 Entering design awards
🎆 Sharing your work online
🎆 Being open about your process

If you’re a digital marketer, work on your craft,
and then show the evidence you’re great by:

🌟 Publishing campaigns with measurable results
🌟 Building and growing an audience or community
🌟 Clearly articulating strategy, experiments, and learnings

If you’re a copywriter, work on your craft,
and then show the evidence you’re great by:

🩷 Publishing breakdowns of why certain copy works or fails
🩷 Rewriting landing pages, ads, or emails for existing brands
🩷 Writing consistently in public to demonstrate voice and clarity

If you focus on doing this from the beginning,
the pay off in the long-term will be immeasurable.

This is why some people can quit their jobs, go freelance, and immediately start attracting clients…

Because they’re already built a great reputation for themselves!

But if you haven’t done that, or had that opportunity,
proving you’re great should be absolute top of mind for you!

Spend at least 1 hour, every day, for a week on this and I bet you’ll start seeing 10x the results you were having previously.

🎆 How are you going to prove you’re great today?

pov: you 10x your revenue in 2026.

sounds crazy right? 👀 but what if it’s not… ↴

For 2026, I’m making EVEN MORE of a conscious effort to take my goals and 10x them.

I first did this back in 2021 and it actually *blew my mind*!

Every year since I’ve envisioned my dreams and 10x’d them.

2021:
Original goal: make my first £1000 with my side hustle.
10x’d: make my first £10,000 with my side hustle.

🌟 Result: £7500 made with my side hustle.

2022:
Original goal: find an apartment to live near Sheffield post-uni.
10x’d: move into my DREAM loft apartment in London.

🌟 Result: moved to Fulham into a cosy apartment I adored.

2023:
Original goal: restart my side-hustle.
10x’d: go all in on my business full-time.

🌟 Result: wen’t all in on my business in November 23.

etc, etc, etc…

You get the point. 

When you expand beyond the imaginable of what you believe you can achieve…
you inevitably get way closer to your baseline goals,
and often even exceed them, because you just aimed higher from the start!

It’s not about adding extra pressure and being “unrealistic”.
(Effective goal-setting is also super important)

But research suggests that we limit ourselves to how much we believe we can achieve.

If you see yourself as someone who will be stuck in your hometown forever, with a job you hate even though you wish you could leave and start a business,
→ that’s who you’ll be.

Start imagining possibilities for yourself that feel crazy.

Because if other people can achieve it, so can you! 🎆

Here’s to a new era for The Graduate Guide.

Today, I get to make the craziest announcement of my career! 



The Graduate Guide has been officially acquired by The Apprentify Group! 

We met Apprentify for the first time in March when we were raising angel investment for The Graduate Guide. 

The synergy we felt with Apprentify’s CEO, Jonathan Fitchew, and his mission to tackle the ever-growing skills gap in organisations, was almost magical.

Apprentify Group has been growing at such an impressive rate!

Now five portfolio companies strong, they are delivering training and upskilling in AI, data, marketing, sales & leadership.

This saw them rank as the UK’s 30th fastest-growing company in 2025 according to The Sunday Times. 

When we first had a conversation about a potential acquisition, I knew Peter and I could hardly find a better partner to build the upskilling programmes we were raising investment for. 

And here we are. 😁

So, what part did I play in turning Peter’s ‘university passion project’ into an acquired business?

When I first met Peter through LinkedIn, The Graduate Guide was just a podcast. 

But after interviewing so many talented founders, we both wanted to build a business of our own.  I loved Peter’s mission but there was no business model in place. 

So I trusted my gut feeling that The Graduate Guide could be something great and turned the whole wheel around. 

Since joining, I have:

> Tested 5+ business models with Peter - we first wanted to be a media company 📸
> Built 10+ financial projections - most of them were for a PE group that wanted to acquire us early on 😅
> Revised 20+ pitch decks - going to share my top tips in a separate post 🤝

First, building felt exciting but it came with a lot of rejection.
From users.
From clients.
From investors.

But we always kept going and tried new approaches, until it worked out. 
To this day, I believe it is our perseverance and obsession with the growing skills gap in a dying job market that convinced Apprentify.

What’s next for us? 

First of all, pleaaase don’t worry, The Graduate Guide will continue to exist! We’re working hard to turn it into the community I wish I existed when I started thinking about my career.

But I’m not done with tackling the skills challenge yet, and neither is Peter. 

So, stay tuned for bringing our new venture out of stealth.
