In my experience with PA Consulting I have:

Lead workstreams for infrastructure, rolling stock, operations and safety on a 4.5Billion DKK project for a transport company in Denmark to validate the commercial and safety viability of a proposed project for fully automated trains. 

Created a feasibility study for a healthcare company to show the viability of integrating HR and finance with cloud based technology can bring substantial financial and non financial benefits where the outcomes are aligned to the clients business objectives.

Make a compelling case for a railway company to invest in improving site security and awareness for their staff.

Identified 45million GBP of efficiency savings in operational improvements over 5 years for a UK based transport operating company.

Created a road-map for a business change plan for a railway company to migrate and mange the transition from a project based company to an asset management based company.

Created am Equalities Impact Assessment to ensure that a proposed policy within the healthcare industry has given thought and consideration to equality and to identify any potential bias or indirect discrimination against any protected characteristics in accordance with legislation.

As a qualified project manager and a SME in railway operations and safety I helped clients improve the engineering change process by utilising my lean management expertise which negated the need for investment in additional resources to enhance the speed up this process. I also successfully improved my clients process in managing their independent safety assurance suppliers to get packages of work to be turned around quicker and with better control of the process.

Managing 4 specialist subcontractors in the area's of signaling, E&P, ETE and asset lists who do work on behalf of the Wessex Capacity Upgrade Programme. I also do the Entry into Service on behalf of the client by ensuring the operation teams, train companies, publications, signalers, infrastructure owners and station management are ready to run a full service after we commission new infrastructure or systems into service.

Assistant Project Manager

Ensuring that all sectors of the railway industry from station staff to operations have all their preparatory training, briefs, industry instruction updates and relevant certification is all signed off and ready in preparation to any alteration to the infrastructure by the Wessex Capacity Programme at London Waterloo. I also ensure that the Rail Systems project to the Wessex Capacity Alliance has everything in place ready for the commissioning stage and at the hand-back stage.

As the alliance contains many companies and staff without the knowledge and experience of deploying personnel onto the railway infrastructure I set up systems in place for allocating safety staff, deploying them and producing reports from site following works.

Entry into Service Manager

My role was to ensure that the track was constructed to design and ensure paperwork was complete to ensure effective handover. Due to working for 6 years in the capacity as the client I was in the position where I was able to save the project time and money to tailor works to suit the needs of the client. 

Notable achievements include accurate planning for tamping operations to maximise hours worked in possessions and obtaining geometrical data from the tamper as a primary source negating the need for an engineer at a later date to complete a geometrical survey.

I also and taught devised a culture of engineers obtaining data (and how to interpret it) from the local maintenance unit to monitor performance of the new track and to assist in dilapidation surveys to pin point inherent faults in the track that would otherwise be disputed during the snagging list stage of the hand back.

I was part of the Engineering team in Eastleigh that maintained track from Basingstoke to Weymouth and Fareham to Salisbury. My remit was to ensure that the track quality performance was compliant to standard and if not to identify the problem areas and to mitigate against it deteriorating. MY achievements include:

Compiling a strategy for managing good track quality and which meant ensuring that our best performing track does not slip into the poor category. This was done by not neglecting the analyses of the good track during TRV data interpretation by spotting deterioration.

Compiling a tight and wide gauge register with faults that are not actionable but builds a clear picture of where the faults may line in the future of they are not actioned.

Effectively monitoring the TRV runs to ensure that all track is within date of being recorded. I would also closely analyse the trace data and be on the TRV myself to ensure that the TRV was not recording a foreign line to the RST. If much mistakes happened then I would lobby Derby Technical Centre to run the TRV again or ensure it is manually recorded at local level.

I also worked with the RAM(Track team) to get many alignment faults or Super reds dispensed against having to fix due to the inherent design of track or the wrong speed applied to the RST. As a consequence the depot saved thousands of pounds from having to continually inspect such faults. I then devised a table top exercise to monitor these dispensed  faults via the trace interpretation.

I also pin pointed the track geometry faults that had been repeated numerous times. These repeated faults were then inspected further and the depot managed to obtain additional funding to correct them or apply for a renewal if the track was beyond maintaining.

By using the good track geometry strategy and accurate interpretation of the TRV data I was in charge of booking tampers at allocating meetings, allocating staff to tampers and deploying them to site.

I was a member of the Royal Navy Reserve at HMS Eaglet (Liverpool) and HSM King Alfred (Portsmouth) as a member of the Above Water Warfare department. My role was to provide force protection during anti piracy and counter terrorism activities for merchant naval vassals.

In 2009 I completed a 7 month tour of Iraq under Op Telic 13 deployed as part of Fleet protection Group S Squadron Royal Marines on board HMS Bay Leaf and HMS Cardigan Bay in the Persian Gulf.
