A career founding and leading companies, both in Europe, the UK and Central America, has taught me the importance of tenacity. I now chair an agri-tech company (Kroptek), am a co-founder and director of a renewable energy business, a senior advisor to an investment and development entity and advise several other businesses. I also really enjoy helping businesses and business leaders grow and prosper: over the last five years I have helped over fifty business leaders and their companies move up to the next level. I became a Vistage Group Chair because I am passionate about developing people and transforming businesses; I get great pleasure in helping people to realise their dreams. I have had the satisfaction of leading CLP Envirogas' growth from the seed of an idea to a company that was sold for over £120 million. Over 15 years the group grew from one employee to one hundred people on sites and in offices throughout the UK. We started and grew similar groups in Spain and Central America. I have founded, run and grown companies mainly in the energy sector, sourcing funding, managing teams over multiple sites and gaining experience as a developer and a long-term operator. I have managed companies from start-up through multiple project development to ultimate sale or long-term investor returns. My early career took me to China in the 1980s, where I worked closely with the Chinese government on chartering ships to support their growing import programme. This experience taught me a lot about managing complex relationships on both a business and a personal level: I had to understand and respect different attitudes and cultures. Over the years I have established good relationships between funds, investors, lenders, overseas partners and management/founders.
