Saw this viral post recently and while it will sound smart to few, there are so many things wrong with it. 

The math looks simple: 
₹34,000 profit × 12 cars × 1.5 years = ₹73 lakh 

But real-world business doesn’t work like a Excel sheet. 

Here’s what it ignores:
• Loan EMIs: 12 cars × ₹6.5L each = ₹78L. Even at 9% interest, EMIs would eat up ₹1.5–2L/month. 

• Maintenance & tyres: ₹3,000–₹5,000 per car/month = ₹40k–₹60k total. 

• Insurance & permits: ₹15k–₹20k per car annually (₹2–2.5L total). 

• Driver salary: ₹15k Really? Unrealistic. Most full-time Uber drivers earn ₹25k–₹35k/month, depending on hours and city. 

• Downtime: Cars won’t run 26 days every month. Even 4–5 off days drop income by ₹15k–₹20k per car. 

• Taxes & depreciation: Real profit after tax could be 30–40% lower than projected. 

• Operations overhead: You’ll need at least one employee to manage 12 drivers, track trips, handle maintenance, and deal with other issues.

And let’s be honest:

Someone who can afford a Tesla probably already runs a business, they don’t need to manage 12 WagonRs and 12 drivers for a passive income.

Just because the math adds up, doesn’t mean the business does. It clearly ignores real world economics, taxes, risks, human costs, etc.

If business was this easy, every Ola/Uber fleet owner would be a millionaire buying Teslas after 18 months. 

In reality, most struggle to even cover EMIs.

Stop listening to these people they’ll only show you the parts that look good on paper, not the realities that make or break it.

I have always admired Raj Shamani for bringing inspiring voices to the youth. But this time, I was really disappointed.

He invited a trader who claims to earn 25% every month and shows off rented cars, luxury watches, and a Dubai lifestyle just to sell courses.

On top of that, the thumbnail said “₹150 Cr from trading.” I felt it was clear clickbait.

Let’s be real:
→ Even Warren Buffett’s lifetime return is ~19.8% per year, not per month.

→ If someone made 20-25% every month, they would be the richest person in the world in 10 years.

→ SEBI’s own data shows 93% of traders lose money. Yet, a podcast with millions of young viewers is promoting the opposite image.

I understand it was a paid podcast. That’s fine. But showing unrealistic success and flashy lifestyle gives the wrong message to young people who are already chasing Fast Money.

The only good part was that Raj did ask some tough questions. The guest was left in contradictions and had no answers at many points.

Do you think creators should be more careful about the guests they invite?

P.S.: I’m not saying trading is wrong or that people don’t make money from it. My problem is with using flashy rented cars and lifestyles to influence the youth. That’s misleading, and that’s what I’m against.

What’s one turn in your journey that changed everything?

Most CFA candidates fail before exam day even comes.

Not because of FRA.
Not because of Derivatives.
Not because they didn’t study enough.

They fail because of registration mistakes.

The most common ones:

1) Name Mismatch with Passport:
The name on your CFA account must match your passport exactly. Even one missing initial or extra space can block you.

2) Registering Without a Passport:
Some candidates register, hoping to get a passport later. CFA Institute doesn’t allow this. No passport = no exam.

3) Expired or Expiring Passport
If your passport expires before exam day, your registration is invalid. Renew it before applying.

4) Registration ≠ Scheduling:
After registering, you must choose your exam date, time, and location. If you don’t schedule in time, you lose the attempt.

5) Incorrect Exam Window Selection:
Once you select a window and miss it, you can’t just reschedule freely. Make sure dates don’t clash with travel, college, or work deadlines.

6) Payment Errors:
Missing the deadline = no entry.
CFA Institute doesn’t allow late payments, even by a day.


CFA is already a tough and expensive exam. Don’t let paperwork be the reason you fail.

Double-check. Triple-check.
Your CFA success starts before exam day.

SIPs won't make you rich.
Let me say it louder for those in the back.

A ₹5,000/month SIP at 12% returns will give you ₹46 lakhs in 20 years.

Sounds great?
Adjust for 6% inflation and it's worth just ₹16 lakh in today's money.

That's barely enough for a decent car.

Here's what nobody tells you:
→ SIPs are sold as the path to wealth 
→ But they're actually just a disciplined savings tool 
→ The real wealth builder? Your earning power.

If you're earning ₹50,000/month and investing ₹5,000, you're saving 10%.

But if you focus on taking your income from ₹50,000 to ₹2 lakhs?
Now your 10% SIP becomes ₹20,000/month.

That same 20-year period? ₹1.83 crore.

Same discipline. 4x the outcome.

SIPs won't make you rich if your salary stays stagnant.
They're a tool, not a strategy.

Focus on: 
✅ Learning high-income skills 
✅ Switching jobs strategically 
✅ Building side income streams 
✅ Then investing aggressively

Your 20s and 30s should be about growing your income.
Your 40s and 50s? Let compounding do its magic.

Stop believing ₹5,000/month will solve your future.
Start investing in yourself first.

Are NISM Courses Worth It?
Will It Help You Land a Job?

Let me give you the honest truth.

NISM won't magically land you a job. But for certain roles, it's mandatory.

If you want to work in: 
→ Mutual fund distribution 
→ Investment advisory 
→ Research analysis 
→ Equity derivatives

You NEED them. It's not optional.

But here's what most people don't tell you:

✅ Pros:
→ Affordable (₹1,500 - ₹3,000 per exam)
→ Quick to complete (2-4 weeks of study)
→ Industry recognized
→ Required for compliance roles
→ Good foundation for beginners

❌ Cons:
→ Not globally recognized
→ Won't help you switch careers alone
→ Doesn't replace CFA or MBA
→ Limited depth
→ Mainly for regulatory compliance

What do I think about it?

NISM is a stepping stone, not a destination.

If you're a student or starting in finance, do it. It builds foundational knowledge and opens doors.

But don't expect it to land you an IB or PE role.

For that, you need more: CFA, MBA, real projects, networking, and experience.

I've seen hundreds of people start the CFA journey. 
Most quit after Level 1.
And honestly? That's not always a bad thing.

Here's the truth no one tells you:

CFA is brilliant, but it's not a universal solution.
It's designed for one thing: deep expertise in investment management.

If you're not heading toward equity research, portfolio management, or wealth advisory, you might be chasing the wrong certification.

The Real Cost:
→ 900+ hours of study per level 
→ ₹4.5-5 lakhs total investment 
→ 2-3 years of your life 
→ No guaranteed job placement

It only works best if you:
✅ Want to work in buy-side roles.
