It’s the 3rd Dec 2008 and I receive a call from my boss, which started... "There is no easy way to say this" Those 7 words changed the trajectory of my working life. With 2 children under 3 and the deepest darkest recession raging around the world, and equivalent part-time learning & development jobs (like the one I was just about to be laid off from) were rarer than a hen’s tooth, I was definitely down. But for anyone who knows me, not out. A chance visit to a networking event where I learnt about this new way to market yourself called social networking, was all I needed to work out this thing called business development… without having to leave my home or spend hundreds of pounds (that I didn’t have) to get my name out there. That was over 10 years ago now, and every single scrap of work I have received has come from my investment in content marketing super-charged by the reach only social media can give you.
