Greetings! I currently work in refugee resettlement advocacy at the United Nations Refugees Agency in Jordan. Before joining the UN, I worked in Natural Language Understanding at Amazon Alexa, where I served as a linguist, language analyst, and scrum lead. My responsibilities included data analysis, linguistic input, linguistic quality assurance, and leading a team of linguists as a scrum master. Moreover, I provided valuable cultural insights to enhance the team’s understanding of Middle Eastern culture, fostering diversity and inclusion within Artificial Intelligence (AI). In addition to my corporate experience, I hold a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics and Communication with a focus on research into linguistic diversity, inclusion, and belonging, using mixed methods to integrate quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis. Moreover, I have contributed to the U.S. higher education system by developing students' language skills and managing programs. Having also worked with the United Nations in Jordan, I bring a global perspective to my endeavors. Currently, I'm interested in working in the Middle East and embarking on a career that allows me to synergize my accumulated skills and diversify my expertise further. I am particularly passionate about opportunities in Refugee/Humanitarian work, engaging in Diversity and Inclusion Research in AI, and contributing to Machine Translation. Program Management in (Localization) and roles involving Training/Education and Development are also areas where I see my skills making a meaningful impact.
