Soy María, encantada. Conquense de nacimiento, Londoner de adopción y recién empadronada en Valencia, la millor terreta del món. 
 
Cuando en marzo de 2020 escaseaba el papel higiénico, también escaseaban las empresas que no hacían algún tipo de reestructuración en sus plantillas, incluida la mía. No te voy a engañar, se me vino el mundo abajo. Estaba lejos de casa, con la incertidumbre de la pandemia, con la tristeza de tener que dejar un trabajo que me encantaba, con un miedo terrible a que nadie quisiera contratarme... Vamos, que al final la que acabó con las existencias de papel higiénico del Sainsbury's fui yo. 
 
En ese momento, tenía dos opciones: aprender a hacer pan de masa madre como medio mundo y esperar a que todo pasara hasta encontrar un trabajo en plantilla o crear una web con mi portfolio profesional, montar mi propia empresa y lanzarme al vacío como freelance. Obviamente me decanté por la segunda. Aunque también hice pan, dejé mi casa como la de Marie Kondo y empecé a tocar la guitarra eléctrica. 
 
A las pocas semanas nació This is Maria Sanabria https://lnkd.in/dPKFTE2 con esas típicas preguntas tipo “¿Cómo voy a conseguir clientes?” “¿Quién va a querer contratarme a mí?” “¿Por qué no me sube el pan en el horno?” Primer spoiler: a la levadura sigo sin pillarle el truco, pero a nivel profesional, no he dejado de trabajar ni un solo día.
 
Ni en mis mejores sueños podría imaginarme que empresas como Uber, Unicef, Google, Meta, Amazon, esa que tiene un logo de una manzana de la que no puedo decir el nombre, LG, TikTok, McDonald’s, Carlsberg, Just Eat y Katy Perry, Avis, Baileys o hasta la mismísma BBC querrían contar conmigo para sus campañas.
 
Como a día de hoy sigo sin creérmelo, muchas veces digo que simplemente he tenido suerte, pero con el tiempo me he dado cuenta de que cuanto más me esfuerzo y más trabajo, más suerte tengo. No sé si será casualidad, pero después de varios años puedo decir que me encanta mi trabajo y que en cada proyecto intento dar lo mejor de mí para que todos esos clientes tan guays repitan. Segundo spoiler: repiten.
 
Tanto es así, que creo que va llegando el momento de expandir horizontes y de ampliar el equipo unipersonal que es hoy en día This is Maria Sanabria. De momento estoy como en la canción de Beyoncé: “Me, Myself and I”, pero me encantaría encontrar a un/una copy nativo/a de castellano con el/la que pueda colaborar cuando me lleguen varios proyectos a la vez.
