Spring Ridge Academy

I taught Art at Spring Ridge Academy, an emotional growth boarding school, for 19 years. Administration gave me the opportunity to develop my own curriculum. Classes include Drawing and Drawing and Painting, incorporating introduction of drawing and painting mediums. Art Spectrum; which incorporates Art History, with basic drawing and painting skills. Art Within and Creative Expressions are both classes which are geared towards exploring a student's creativity and imagination, and Studio Arts, an advanced class for students willing to develop a portfolio. Unfortunately with Covid and other circumstances related to the industry, I was laid off at the end of the 2020-21 school year.

Aside from teaching, experiencing the emotional growth of the girls who had the opportunity to receive the gift of working on their growth, I was able to look at my own issues of how I related to the world and look at myself and my personal relationships and resolve my issues from the past, helping me grow as a human.

Yuma School District One

I began my teaching in Yuma Arizona, at Woodard Junior High School, where I taught Art to seventh and eighth graders, for eight years. I was Yearbook Adviser, and I participated in the Yuma Area Art Educators Association. This was an organization involved with and dedicated to keeping Arts in our schools. Activities included community events, volunteer work and raising money through local art auctions to provide art scholarships for needy individuals who planned to further their education.

I have been an artist for all of my life. I am strong in design elements, illustration and art history. I am creative with a strong imagination, which shows in my artwork and writing. I work in watercolors and colored pencils, but enjoy mixed media as well, and dabble in all mediums. I am a writer of children's books, and hope to publish my first book soon.
