I never felt like I belonged. Because I was born into a multicultural military family, I was always on the outside looking in. Growing up in the south, I was even more aware of how different I was. As a biracial and bilingual child, I struggled to fit in. I used to get teased by my peers. That took a toll on my self-esteem and I grew more timid. But I was also THAT girl who stood off to the sidelines, silently observing the world around her. What I liked to do more than anything was to tell stories. Whether it was an elaborately contorted performance in front of the adoring eyes of my parents or a story written by hand along the margins of old notebooks, my heart sang as my imagination was unleashed. But when I went to college, like others around me, I had no idea what I wanted to do. All I knew was that I loved to tell stories. I went from being an English to a German major until I finally settled on Communications - it was the perfect fit for someone as creative minded as I was. Now I am working as a Social Media Manager and SEO Specialist by day, while crafting ATS-compliant resumes by night. In whatever form of medium or media, my biggest desire is that my stories will continue to touch and enhance the lives of people.
