Compliance doesn’t always get the spotlight it deserves. But if you're a small to mid-sized business thinking, “We're too small to worry about that”… think again. Compliance isn't just about passing audits ... it's about protecting your business, proving your security posture and being ready for what’s next. As the co-founder of SecureLabs Inc, we're making it easier to understand, track and maintain your compliance! Compliance peeps: what actually gets your team to take this seriously?
What would you do if you got an email from PayPal saying you just bought a MacBook Pro? A) Wait... I didn’t buy this. Someone stole my identity! Good thing there’s a customer support number to call. B) I didn’t make this purchase, but I’ll log into PayPal directly—just to double check. C) Pssshhhh, scam. Delete. If you're reading this, there's a good chance you'd go with B or C—or maybe both. But here’s the hard truth: email remains the #1 way people are compromised. And while you think you’d spot a scam, thousands of people fall for emails like this every day because they choose A. Why? Because fear and urgency work. Scammers count on that. Let’s keep talking about scams like this. You never know ... your post, comment or share might be the thing that helps someone go from an A... to a solid B or C.
It's Identity Management Day! Come on, y'all had this one marked on your calendars, right?! Let's talk about why this matters to consumers AND businesses!
Oh, the irony. A friend sent me a screenshot she got in the Temu app. The message? A “security reminder” telling users not to trust suspicious emails or texts asking for extra payments. Sound advice. But Temu… come on. While they warn about shady links, the real concerns are already inside the app. Access to messages, mic, camera, GPS Allegations of spyware Misleading data practice Lawsuits and national security warnings. If you’re not already talking about apps like this in your third-party risk or mobile security conversations—it’s time. Because sometimes the red flag isn’t in your inbox ... It’s the app itself.
Hey you ... are you helping loved ones navigate their social security benefits? The Social Security Administration is implementing new anti-fraud measures starting this week, and it’s causing confusion for millions of Americans. In this video, I break down what’s changing, why it matters and how it ties into growing cybersecurity threats like identity theft and social engineering scams. Today feels like the perfect day to check your LinkedIn settings ... specifically, what's showing up under your “Contact Info.” You might be surprised to learn that many people are unknowingly sharing personal details like their personal cell number, email address or even their birthday ... just because they didn’t uncheck a box. Yes, some people want that info visible. But my guess? Most don’t even realize what’s publicly accessible. Curious where to find it? ▪️Click the “Contact Info” section on your profile (or someone else’s) and take a look at what’s listed. To limit contact information: ▪️ Navigate to your profile ▪️Go to "Settings & Privacy" ▪️Under "Visibility" then adjust the settings to your comfort level Digital safety starts with the little things. Take 60 seconds and give it a quick review ... you will thank yourself later. #TheMoreYouKnow

"AI usage is now a baseline expectation." We all know this shift is coming... But it’s wild to see a major tech CEO put it out there so plainly. Shopify’s CEO just drew a line in the sand for his entire company ... and it might set the tone for the rest of the industry. Should more CEOs be this direct about AI expectations?

What a day yesterday!! In the BEST way!! Helping R.O.S.E. Resources/Outreach to Safeguard the Elderly this year plan and execute their 3rd Annual Golfers FORE Senior Protection was incredibly rewarding. With 84 golfers, great weather and an energy-filled morning of community and cause, we raised vital funds to support scam prevention education for seniors—a mission that matters more than ever. From the live and silent auctions, on-course contests (yes, someone almost won a car!), to our amazing crew of participants and volunteers .... it was fantastic! My brother even flew in to golf in the event - super cool! A heartfelt thank you to our sponsors, golfers, volunteers and the Arizona Grand Resort & Spa for making this event such a success. Already looking forward to next year… until then, cheers to protecting and empowering our senior community! ⭐ Sponsors ⭐ Times Media Group Lovin' Life, The Spitza Family, Western Alliance Bank, Choice Financial Planning, Chapman Chevrolet, Raymond James, Tactical Tax & Estate Planning, GPW and Associates, Inc., Tom Plachecki, Chandler Business Alliance, Tailored Bites, ArchWell Health, Encompass Health, Maag Communications & Mktg Joyce Petrowski | Al Maag | Tonia Dudley
There’s been a lot of chatter about the CVE Program funding (for good reason!) ... but what does it really mean for businesses and everyday consumers? Spoiler: It’s more important than most people realize. Tune in: What the CVE Program is, why it matters far beyond the cybersecurity world, what CISA’s recent funding decision means for digital safety and how this impacts you (yes, YOU) whether you're running a company or just updating your phone.
Anyone else have a stack of data breach notification letters now?! Let’s talk about what to do when you receive one.
This email looks like a scam ... but it’s not. It’s from Amazon. It’s legitimate. And it’s confusing. This is a screenshot from a real order cancellation. Here’s why it raises red flags: - No logos or branding - Vague and unexpected language - Clickable links prompting action These are the exact signs we tell consumers to look out for when identifying phishing emails. Yet this is coming directly from one of the most recognizable companies in the world. In a digital environment where we constantly say "verify before you trust," messages like this make that harder. The safest action? Go directly to your account through the app or website ...never click the link in the email. I understand Amazon needs to alert customers about orders, but there has to be a better, more secure way to do it. Because right now, this approach is training people to either ignore important messages or fall for lookalike scams. We can ... and should ... do better when it comes to trustworthy digital communication.

As a seasoned public speaker, I’m always looking for ways to sharpen my skills. Whether it’s refining content, improving delivery or building confidence to tie it all together. But years ago, I realized something surprising. I was confident on stage, but when it came to public reading, I’d stumble over words and get nervous. Totally unlike me. That’s exactly why I started volunteering to read at church. I figured if I wanted to improve, what better place to practice than in a supportive, forgiving environment? Fast-forward ten years, and now I genuinely enjoy it. It’s helped me grow in unexpected ways. So I’m curious, what are you doing right now to stretch yourself? Feedback is a gift, and growth comes from stepping into discomfort. What skill are you working on these days?
