day 6 - trying to post slightly earlier lol. 

today was sort of a slow day if I’m being honest. did not ship the main page as I expected 😭 o well the night is still young 

time is currently torn between making my demo, making a pitch deck, making this main page, trying to onboard a friend to helping me code…  

Ok ok fine I also spent a bit finding a nail salon LMAO cause my current nail set bores me 💅

day 5 of building in public. 11:05pm but i refuse to miss out on the day. 

a version of the new site has been pushed to main. but now im playing around with the language. should the story start with "we were built with play" and anchor on play? or should it start with "we're more than just labels" and anchor on identity?

day 7: sharing the slides that i had for my event last wednesday! goal is to ... turn this shit into a pitch deck 🤡 BTW THIS ISNT JUST A CASUAL PROJECT I DO HAVE A DEADLINE LMAoOoOoOOooOoOOoo

also i recognize that these updates probably dont make sense, but part of collecting artifacts as you build means looking back and being like WTF??? but tbh that WTF actually will become something ho ho ho 

retroactively the work always makes sense, like you can always spin some good sounding narrative. but thats really not  the case. its generally a shitshow until it's not a shitshow. so i wanna capture the shitshow cause i never see anyone else's shitshow and i sort of want to. it would prob make me feel better. anyhow. 

but yes the goals for today!!!! LITERALLY TODAY: 
1️⃣ have a pitchable-deck / story 
2️⃣get usable demo ready (gonna give myself until 5pm tonight) 
3️⃣finish this goddamn landing page if its even possible (its not, will be pushed to tomorrow)

Day 8 of building in public. I deeply don’t want to post anything today. Maybe this is better than nothing. 

Headache, feels like I’m going backwards and have made no progress. 🥹 Send motivation. 

I’ve started so many of these types of daily updates and always generally quit within the first week so let’s… just get it done. ✅

Day 3 of building in public. Trying to push past the fact that I'm posting "at a bad time" and just doing it anyway. 

So for my event (that already happened - it was fun!) I created this lil bouncer sim experience. The whole point is that no one got access to the address.... unless you were cleared by the bouncer for the event.

day 2 of building in public! please give me your thoughts on these designs? 

are they cute? ugly? resonate? weird? 

i don't really want to use AI generated art as the CORE so these are all human made!

designs! 

happy saturday and day 4 of building in public. working on a wireframe for a new "manifesto/waitlist" version of the page. 

right now the project is... in an OK but def still buggy state. fully accessible. but i want to start creating a waitlist and actually having these posts even direct to a CTA! 

lets see how it goes. im aiming to ship this by monday!

day 10 of building in public. and i'm checking back in on my reddit game which was a distribution test as well. still not officially launched yet as it's in beta, but have had over 5000+ unique players, with a 7-day daily avg of 350-400 players. 

def need to be building some more there.

day 11 of building in public. this is a really solid book for learning about the history of building novel products. how did the mouse come to be? how were the concept of desktop icons discovered? what inspired the sims and other toys and games?

day 9 of building in public. here are the stats from the last 7 days of an hours worth of organic marketing. this is NOT from founder content. 

i explicitly don't want someone to try it because i ask them to try it. 

(though actually my bouncer sim really did numbers too, i should show that at some point, but these numbers don't include that)

this is primarily trying out different hooks, CTAs, posts only. no videos, no tiktoks, etc. 

the sample size is still small, but overall reasonably promising! 

each game takes 2-4 minutes by the way. so a 65% completion from cold is pretty good. 

plus roughly 1 out of 3 people then start a new game! neat.  

anyhow onwards!! i love data. data is momentum. :)) back to building + see you tomorrow (ty for sending motivation yesterday).
