Wariscan is a Malaysian startup company that aims to preserve our national cultural heritage; so that our kids and the future generation can appreciate them.  We are working to increase the awareness on technological advancement that allows important cultural and historical heritage to be digitized to collection owners, while at the same time increasing the awareness on the importance of these heritage to the public. We strive to digitize as many cultural heritage as we can, while at the same time introducing novel ways to tell a story to these heritage that appeal to the greater public.

Contageo is a geolocation infectious disease platform, which is at the moment aimed to empower smartphone users in Malaysia with information on dengue hotspots and dengue cases around them that they an share with others via social media.  With the mobility and location-aware nature of smartphones, users can be notified using push notification if they are inside or nearby a dengue hotspots.  Other than receiving information, users can play active role by sharing the information with others, reporting dengue cases, reporting fogging activities, reporting potential mosquitoes breeding grounds and reporting if they are bitten by mosquitoes.  They can also organize events such as gotong-royong at their areas and communicate these events with others via the mobile app. The information gathered from the users can be used by UM researchers to understand social behaviour, and trends in the spread of dengue.  In the future, the platform can be tailor made to support other diseases/outbreak such as Zika, H1N1, MERS-CoV, etc.

The app won the Bank Rakyat - YIM Ideation Challenge 2015. Contageo is now incubated at the UM Centre of Innovation and Commercialization.

Developed a ‘PC - Medical Trolley’ for University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to be used by doctors to access patients records from mobile desktop computers.  Mainly in charge of the development of battery level indicator.

Trainer for various CNC and CAD/CAM software.  Conducted several seminars for local school teachers for Renan Information Technology Ltd. Co. (Taiwan) products – CNC Turning and Milling simulators, NC Editor, and CNC Training Machines.

Developed ‘Fazprint Printing Kiosk’ for Department of Engineering Design and Manufacture, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur to be used by students to print their assignments.  Mainly in charge of developing the GUI.

Hilman is a Senior Research Fellow in Sunway University. He is also one of the founders of Wariscan Sdn Bhd. He completed his PhD at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Malaya. His research project is on characterization of defects on fine art using Machine Learning and Image Processing methods. He is passionate about technology, design and art.
