I’ve always had a love for fashion and although I found out quickly I wasn’t a whiz on a sewing machine. I loved my time at Nottingham Trent University, where I studied Fashion Marketing & Communication. Once graduated, I joined the luxury brand, Brora where I helped develop knitwear and accessory collections. After a few years honing my skills, I took on a new challenge, the rollercoaster world of fashion recruitment. Connecting talented creatives with suppliers, brands and retailers across the globe. After many years it was time to build something of my own and work in a way aligned to my values. I know job hunting can be stressful (been there!), so I wanted that process to run as smoothly as possible, in an honest, and respectful manner. So in 2019, Sketch Fashion Recruitment was born. Mid-2023, my brilliant sister Gemma joined the journey. As we redefined Sketch's priorities, we challenged ourselves to a six-month sustainable clothing pledge. Sustainable materials, pre-loved – you get the gist. Which led to something bigger… 2023 was a year of genuine transformation. As sisters, we conversed and collaborated. We spent time reflecting on the important things and took steps to move forward with more focus than ever. We committed with Sketch Fashion Recruitment, to support sustainably focused & B-Corp apparel companies. However it turns out that was just one layer of the onion. We were blown away by discovering and learning about all manner of brilliant companies choosing to do so much good. For us, it felt like we found the final piece of the puzzle, from recent years of personal changes, choices and challenges colliding, fuelling our desire as a business to be more and do more.
