Regional Epidemiologist

Serve as the epidemiologist/data analyst for northeast Tanzanian health outcomes, to gather baseline data and measure changes after medical equipment donations to hospital systems. More specifically, I research mortality causes in northeast Tanzania using PubMed database and nationwide mortality rates using WHO and UNICEF data. I use Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) specific to the health outcome to gain insight into the who/where/when/how of health outcomes in northeastern Tanzanian households by inputting data into SPSS, SAS, or Stata data analysis software and running multivariate logistic regression analyses and chi square tests of significance.

Surveys include government and private surveys (HCAHPS or Hospital and Consumer Assessment for Hospital Providers and Systems and Press Ganey) to identify patient experience trends and measure changes associated with program interventions. Worked closely with administrative stakeholders in the C-suite, as well as nursing managers, and clinical staff, to interpret results and recommend areas of improvement. Rounded on patients and de-escalated sensitive conflicts, advocated for patients and staff.
