Leading five teams comprising around 60-70 sales and account management professionals I was responsible for thousands of customers ranging from the World’s biggest asset manager to one man hedgefunds and investment advisers. Growing this $300m business meant combining a laser-focus on customer service with an ability to identify and exploit tactical and strategic opportunities.

A key success was driving the widespread adoption of Bloomberg’s research management platform having understood the transformational implications of the proposed MiFID2 regulation at an early stage.

Team Leader EMEA new business, Bloomberg LP (London) (January ’09 to September ’11)

The analysis of CRM data that I showed the Head of Sales proved that the existing sales structure was sub-optimal and that new business opportunities were not effectively harvested. I created a new team devoted to “hunting” that competed directly with the existing hybrid hunting/farming teams which went on the be the highest-selling team in EMEA for three years running. 
The structure was replicated in all of the firm’s regional sales offices.

Uniquely among the global teams I aligned my teams with specific legal sectors rather than geographically and the strategy proved extremely successful. The added credibility that sector specialisation brought showed itself in stronger sales than in all other regions.

Only a small number of high-performing Bloomberg sales people are asked to relocate to other offices, and this move was a recognition of my exceptional performance since joining. I gained valuable experience working in a totally different sales culture and built a number of internal executive relationships which continue to help me to this day.
