I am the Book Author of "How To Be A Neuro-affirmative Parent"

I have 10 years of corporate planning experience in Singapore, where I am originally from. I moved to Perth, Australia in 2011 to start a family and dedicate my time to volunteering in the City of Joondalup community. 

I am passionate about mental health, diversity and inclusion, and special needs education. 

During my tenure in the school board, I wrote two nomination letters on behalf of the school and both awarded the Winner in WA Education Awards for
 
🏁 Primary School of the Year in 2021 
🏁 Excellence in Disability and Inclusion in 2023

I am a certified mental health first aider. 
It is my outmost priority to advocate for my neurodivergent child.

We all need a support system! 🙌🏼

It’s amazing how having someone who believes in us,

Can give us the boost we need to change our perspective.

While we see roadblocks, they see possibilities and solutions.

I had a very unusual start of my career. At the age of 19, I already had a full-time career in a pharmaceutical company in Singapore. 

At the time of my employment, I haven't graduate from my diploma yet. I had just finished my exams and was waiting for my results. 
Nothing better to do, I went for my first job interview and was offered the job. 

I still remember till today; when I was in the HR manager's office signing the appointment letter. Her long manicured finger pointed at one of the clauses; "If I had failed my final year exams, my employment will be terminated." 

Thankfully, I passed. The graduation ceremony was a bit awkward, because I'm already working whereas other graduates were talking about finding a job.

I wasn't easy working in corporate at young age, I wasn't even at the legal age to vote. Regardless, I was the go-to person among my peers to speak about career at that time. I reckon that was how people think I'm good at it; able to find a job so quickly. However, that was far from the truth. I have no clue how to give career advices.

Now thinking back, "What do I wish I knew when I started my career?"

I wished I knew that, "People will not share their success stories; People will not share their trade secrets. PERIOD."

The only way we can learn from seniors is by learning from their mistakes; and most importantly how to avoid those mistakes. 

When we just graduate, we lack of experiences and still had that "academic" mindset, i.e that we, study, learn and follow from success stories. I wished I knew that the concept of success is very dynamic and it differs from people to people. 
However, failure stories have a pattern and there are lessons behind it.

(the writer has the audacity to write about racism?)

But waaayyy No !

This book is about an Asian Author who died in an accident and her Caucasian friend steals her unpublished manuscript.

What a Twist !

We all know that we need to tell a lie to cover a lie; and this story manifested into a hella BIG plot.


A compelling book that is hard to put down after you started.

Ben is authentic, extremely intelligent and an unwavering activist in championing disability.

When writing my book "How to be A Neuro-Affirmative Parent", it is important to not only just speaking about my parenting journey, but also able to advocate for every neurodivergent households.

The chapter about Bullying is very heavy-hearted to write; but someone has to do it. It is a huge accolade that Ben resonate with my work, I hope my book will do the same for many others too.

Back in 2021-2022, when people asked me why I use LinkedIn?

My answer is lukewarm; "Oh well, it is my duty as a school board Chairperson to promote my school; and LinkedIn just so happen to be the easier option because I'm an introvert."

Fast forward today, my mindset had changed. I can't just post for the sake of posting. It doesn't work like that.

So, I joined a combine session hosted by LinkedIn Editor Brendan Wong from Australia and LinkedIn Community Manager Alita from Singapore about content creation.

I didn't expect much because I thought my area of work (neurodiversity) don’t exactly gel with the core of LinkedIn.
(yet again, another misconception)


BUT. IT. WAS. FUN.

and the highlight was to connect with like-minded user like Sorelle ! 🤗

I brought my son to see the dentist to seek a second opinion. We suspect his permanent tooth might be erupting; with his baby tooth still very strong.

The dentist had a look; and said 
"it might be the left 35 tooth. Watch out on the right 35 tooth too. They usually fall together."

WHAT is 35 tooth ?! 😅
(Fun Fact : it is pronouce as Three Five Tooth)

The dentist is very patience in explaining to me but I still don't understand.

Then, at the corner of my eye, I saw the "teeth model" on the bench. 

I asked if they can show me using that.

Straight away, crystal clear, I knew which tooth they were talking about.

Lesson Learnt : 
Yes, people can be very nice and patience; but it is still our due diligence to let people know how we can learn better.
