This is a start-up transportation company. I was responsible for setting up and implementing all facets of the Operations, Accounting, Hiring, and Safety departments. I worked with independent contractors to write procedure manuals and ensure that all steps were properly enforced. Now that the startup phase is complete, I am in charge of hiring drivers, load planning and data input, creating and maintaining the IT functions, as well as other general operational tasks that arise. I also conduct safety audits among the drivers and correct them either via phone or in person if they are having trouble understanding or following the safety regulations. I am also responsible for making sure all the drivers were informed of their dispatched tasks, as well as collecting, processing, and billing all paperwork.

American Workshop

American Workshop was an open to the public workshop where the general public could use woodworking equipment to build their projects. As the Director of Operations and Marketing, it was my responsibility to get the people in the door and then make sure their experience was enjoyable and safe. I developed safety guidelines that all new members had to follow in order to use the shop. I also oversaw all employees (10 in total) and made sure they were conducting themselves in a courteous and safe manner.  My marketing duties included building and maintaining the website and all social media accounts. I used a wide variety of online tools and programs to assist with managing the social media accounts. I was responsible for all copy that was written, as well as all photography and videography that was produced. I also worked with the DIY community from print, online and in the Minneapolis area and developed relationships with bloggers/influencers, magazine editors and TV 
personalities to help promote the shop. Those relationships culminated in American Workshop being featured on an episode of “I Hate My Bath” on the DIY Network, as well as being featured on a number of local programs.

The trucking industry is arguably the most important industry on the planet. It is the bedrock of commerce and hardly anyone knows how it works. My goal is to educate and inform individuals on how this crucial industry navigates a confusing and often-changing world safely.
