You wake up
Open your laptop
And immediately become the data department

Your day includes:

• One “quick question” that requires context
• One dashboard refresh you pretend not to watch
• Three Slack messages that say “thanks!”
• Zero meetings that start on time

You don’t commute
You don’t wear real pants
You do, however, explain the same number twice

You might not speak out loud all day,
but you:
• Fix things quietly
• Keep the business running
• And close your laptop knowing the data makes sense

Remote work isn’t about freedom

It’s about doing real work
without anyone watching you refresh a spreadsheet

I learned SQL almost entirely on my lunch breaks using DataCamp.

Just a bunch of data people:

I LOVE job boards

Nothing builds character like:

- Applying to 213 roles
- Getting automated rejections
- And one email that starts with “While your background is impressive…”

Job boards are amazing because:
- You compete with 600 people
- Half are wildly unqualified
- The other half are terrifyingly overqualified
- And the role was probably filled internally anyway

But hey, you get to upload your resume again in 5 minutes

Kidding aside...

If you’re relying only on job boards,
you’re playing the hardest version of the game.

Most people don’t get hired because they were “the best applicant.”
They get hired because:

- Showed up in less flooded spaces
- Had their name passed along 
- Stood out without competing on stale job boards

It wasn’t luck.
It wasn’t favoritism.
It was position.

I mean I get it, Job boards aren’t useless.
They’re just where momentum goes to die if it’s your only move.

If your entire strategy is “apply and hope,”
you’re not job hunting --- you’re volunteering for rejection.
