I am a huge people-person that believes in people. For several years of my adolescent life, particular people in my life were key players that helped me pave a better path than where I was going.  Call it a serendipitous event to run into these people that changed my life. It is the reason why I became a medical laboratory scientist to pay it forward and help people who are in need.

After several years in my professional career, I believed it was time to pursue an MBA. My goal is to be a great leader and help people achieve all their goals no matter what industry it is in. I thrive on innovative ideas when resources are scarce.

Well I'm officially an equity business partner with my first brick and mortar business in Tennessee. 

I'm a huge local fan of the Garlic Press here in Normal, IL and the store has that type of vibe.

When I saw the opportunity of a business partnership that specializes in tea and the fact I fell in love with their mission, I couldn't pass it up. 

One thing that I love about the store is that it can make custom herbal teas that may help with common ailments such as (GI, migraines, etc).

I'll be working on their digital operations and streamlining their logistic process for online ordering.

Before becoming a student at Illinois State University, I always knew that I wanted to be in business. However during my time at the university, the economic crash just happened and I soon realized that jobs weren't hiring business and accounting majors, so I decided to go into the healthcare professional field. 

After I graduated from the university, I knew that I did not want to be a laboratory scientist for the rest of my life. Instead, I decided that I would do everything that I could to learn the operations of a laboratory. I wanted to learn about hiring, budgeting, project management, and so forth. These skillsets are in high demand for owning a successful business. During that time, I thought it was essential to get my MBA and also be involved with a community of entrepreneurs (Thank you Nashville Entrepreneur Center). Also thank you BRENDA DUNN KINNEY for being a mentor throughout the years!

Fast forward with 10 years of learning by experience --- all 10 indicators were going off like alarms, so I finally jumped off the boat to leave the W-2 lifestyle. As for any “job” you’ll have your good days and bad days. I truly believe wealth is not the dollar value that you make but it’s the freedom that it gives you. I do believe that there’s a handful of people who can operate a small business to get that sense of freedom today or the future.

10 Indicators You May Be A Entrepreneur

When you're in the trenches and putting in your best effort, it can be frustrating because no one may be seeing what you're doing.
 
You may be feeling emotionally drained and you may be wanting someone to root you on the sidelines. 

Sometimes this happens and many times it doesn't happen.
 
What matters the most is the results. 

The results are the words of the story. 

If you're drained, know that you are not alone with feeling lonely. 
That's part of the process of being a high-impact individual striving for results.

Here are 5 things I recommend during these lonely times:

🫶Reach out to loved ones: Connect with friends, family members, or supportive individuals who can offer companionship and understanding. 

🫶Engage in productive activities: Channel your energy into activities that align with your goals or interests. 

🫶Practice self-care: Prioritize your physical and mental well-being by engaging in self-care activities. 

🫶Volunteer or help others: Consider volunteering your time or skills to support others in need. 

🫶Seek professional support if needed

Surround yourself with those who uplift and support your growth journey. 

Your inner circle should be filled with individuals who genuinely want to see you succeed, without expecting anything in return. 

Keep in mind, when you identify your inner circle it can't always be about "you".

Inner circle are real relationships.

When you can provide real value, make sure you can deliver without the expectation of getting something back.

Here is what you should do if you are trying to build a inner circle:

🔶Choose Wisely: Be selective about who you allow into your inner circle. Surround yourself with individuals who inspire and motivate you to reach your full potential.

🔶Quality Over Quantity: Focus on building deep, meaningful connections with a few trusted individuals rather than trying to maintain a large network. Quality relationships provide invaluable support and encouragement. 

🔶Set Boundaries: Establish clear boundaries within your relationships to ensure mutual respect and understanding. Surround yourself with people who respect your goals, values, and personal space. 

🔶Open Communication: Foster open and honest communication within your inner circle. Encourage dialogue about dreams, aspirations, and challenges, and provide support and encouragement to one another. 

🔶Reciprocity: Cultivate relationships based on reciprocity, where both parties genuinely want the best for each other. Avoid relationships that feel one-sided or transactional.

No matter what size business you have it'll be hard work. 

There is no blueprint to this journey. 

Don't get yourself sold on it. 

There are frameworks; but to see results it will take a lot of work. 

Over the past year I've started to fall in love with "boring businesses" 

Why? 

There's a lot of upside to small businesses. 

The good news:

⏩ Many small businesses are for sale 
⏩ Many small businesses are closing down

These are 2 major ways how you can acquire a business that's somewhat established.

I've started from the ground up several times. It's physically and mentally taxing.

Why do that if you have the option to pick-up where a business left off?

In the next several weeks I'll be working on a e-book on how to make that a reality. Stay tuned!

You can choose to have a hard time now so it's easier later down the road.

Or

You can skate and get by now and then have a hard time when you're older and less efficient.

For me, I've learned it's easier to have the struggle now to learn, grow, and adapt more smoothly. I can't imagine doing those things in my 60s and 70s.

Would it be impossible?

No.

My preference is to invest my time in a certain mission that I have when I'm older.

What do you prefer?

Things to consider:

⏩ The challenge you're facing needs to align with your mission. If not, what's the point?

⏩ It's hard to say no and walk away. Don't convince yourself it's a sign of weakness if it doesn't align with your mission.

⏩ The more uncomfortable you are in the present, the easier it gets over time.

⏩ Don't be afraid to ask for help when things get unbearable and it affects your mental state in a negative manner.

With creating a social presence, it's been a challenge to make content with me in it.

Over the years as I got older, I became more reserved.

Every image I take sometimes takes 10 tries.

The thought of posting sometimes makes me cringe with my picture in it.

However, getting comfortable again is a process.

So this is the start of my process.

Here are some things that helped me that I've had to tell myself:

👆 No piece of content can be "perfect".
👆 If I never do it, I'll never know what could happen.
👆 Practice over time increases quality.
👆 I can't be the only one that's felt this way.

Note to self: look at this next year to see how much growth occurred.

Similar to how iron is utilized to hone other pieces of iron, friends possess the capacity to challenge us, offer valuable feedback, and motivate us to strive for excellence. Genuine friends are there to uplift, spur on, and ignite a fire within us to unlock our full potential. During challenging times, they extend a compassionate ear, a supportive presence, and a fresh outlook to assist us in navigating life's obstacles. Ultimately, the bond shared among friends can serve as a potent catalyst for personal advancement and evolution.

Choose precision and accuracy over perfection. 

Continue to be 1% better every day and do that over and over
again.

Learn, unlearn, and relearn the craft like a student.

Increase your efficiency just a smidge over the course of
time.

When it’s time for your calling, execute like you own the
day.

Today was a hard day to roll out of bed and do a WOD. It was the first time in many days that I got some worthwhile deep sleep. Surely, I didn't want to leave the bed.

Instead, I rolled out of bed and I kept saying "just do this one thing to get closer to the door" ... I eventually made it to the gym.

I continued to do the same thing throughout the workout ... "Just one more".

It's crazy how much can be done just by convincing yourself to do just one more.

Does it have to be perfect? No.

What matters the most is showing up and doing the best to your capabilities.

Winners have a unique DNA.

They are comfortable with losing.

The majority of the population call it losing, while they call it "learning".

They'll continue to do things over and over until the objective is complete.

Are you up to making a commitment to have a shift in mindset?

We're born for a purpose.
 
Each one of us has our unique purpose and the great thing is that anyone can contribute to your purpose. 

That's one of the great beautiful things about life and business when people can contribute to your mission. 

Whether you want to go to the Amazon to plant a million trees or be the next millionaire who reinvents how we learn in primary and secondary schooling; you were born for greatness.
 
The key is to not settle for being average.
