Ihechi, is a legal Practitioner, Women and Child Rights Advocate. While in active practice as a Legal Practitioner, she discovered the passion for Human Rights related concerns and was driven by the need to give herself more to the cause of raising awareness on the rights of individuals. She eventually, founded COMFORT CENTRE FOR CHILD ADVOCACY, RESPONSE AND EMPOWERMENT in the year 2019 (fully registered under the Corporate Affairs Commission), Prior to 2019, she volunteered for Hope Alive Empowerment project right in the university, where she conducted free academic classes for less privileged children, and empowered their families with feeding and clothing materials. In her quest to share knowledge on Human rights, she saw the rise in Sexual Abuse of children and the dangers posed by the lack of awareness. This gave rise to the KIDS AWARE , KIDS SAFE project, which focuses on mass sensitization of Nigerian students in the primary and secondary school, covering the ages of 2 – 18 years old. So far COMFORT CENTRE FOR CHILD ADVOCACY, RESPONSE AND EMPOWERMENT has covered and sensitized over 2000 students in Benue State for free. They have also held seminars sensitizing parents and school staff, on the prevention of sexual abuse, and are close to hitting the 1000 mark. All of these are done without any financial requests from the recipients. It has become a huge success. Her desire to leave students better prepared to stand up AGAINST SEXUAL ABUSE, birth her books titled: MY BODY SAFETY GUIDE FOR KIDS AND TEENS. These books are freely distributed every year, May 27 (CHILDREN'S DAY). Recently, she started an online campaign educating parents, teenagers, young adults on Gender Based Violence and the prevention of Sexual Abuse. She believes no child should suffer from SGBV, Trafficking and Labour. Every child should be able to learn, grow and play in safety.
