Review Mining: Capture the exact language your customers use. 🔎 Look through reviews, testimonials, and social media mentions to find their pain points and desires. 💡Create a spreadsheet with customer quotes for quick reference, grouping similar feedback by topic to identify common themes and understand what matters most to your audience. Use exact same phrases directly in your messaging. 🏆 2. Competitor Analysis: Understand how competitors position themselves and identify your opportunity to stand out. ➡ Map their messaging, features, and benefits. ➡ Focus on what customers value most—and where your competitors fall short. 💬 3. User Interviews and surveys. Conduct a product-market fit survey and follow up with users who marked that they would be 'very disappointed' without your product. Dive deeper to understand exactly what they value most. Also talk directly to your happiest customers and those who churned. Ask: Why did you choose us over competitors? What problems did we solve? What alternatives did you consider? Use job-to-be-done framework. This helps uncover not just what they need, but the real reasons they buy—and stay. ✍️ 4. Define & Test Messaging: Use your insights to create 2-3 variations that highlight different themes. Then, score each version based on: ✅ What your customers value most ✅ Where competitors fall short ✅ Your product’s unique strengths 📈 5. Message Testing: Validate what resonates through real-world tests: 💻 A/B test your homepage 📱 Test ad copy ♻️ 6. Continuous Refinement: Don’t stop after the first win—keep testing and optimizing. Small tweaks can drive big results! 👉 Focus on the key jobs for your audience. 👉 Adjust your messaging to emphasize what customers care about most—whether that’s solving pain points, delivering quick wins, or achieving long-term goals. Finding message-market fit isn’t a one-and-done task—it’s a process of listening, testing, and refining until your message clicks.
