Ash Wednesday is a Christian holy day that marks the beginning of Lent, a 40-day period of fasting, prayer, and repentance leading up to Easter Sunday. 

It falls 46 days before Easter (since Sundays are not counted in the 40-day fast).

On this day, many Christians, especially in the Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran, and Methodist traditions, attend church services where a priest or minister applies ashes to their foreheads in the shape of a cross. 

The ashes, usually made by burning palm branches from the previous year's Palm Sunday, symbolize repentance, mortality, and the need for forgiveness. 

The words spoken during the imposition of ashes are often:

"Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return." (Genesis 3:19)

or

"Repent and believe in the Gospel."

Ash Wednesday is a solemn day, encouraging self-reflection and a commitment to spiritual growth through fasting, prayer, and acts of charity. 

Many Christians also give up certain luxuries or habits as a form of Lenten sacrifice.

❌ 40-Pax Classes for Adult Learning? It's Time to Rethink the System

What do 𝗠𝗗𝗜𝗦, 𝗔𝗜 training, and 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 freshmen secretly share?
 
𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗜.

When I was designing the session, I asked myself a simple question.
 
How do I 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝗜 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹, not just impressive? But 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗳𝘂𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.
 
Over the years, whether as a Digital Director, Trainer Mentor, or AI educator, one belief has stayed constant in me throughout!
 
If Gen AI does not solve a real problem, 𝗻𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘀.
 
Most people get Gen AI wrong.
 
They memorise tools.  
They copy prompts.  
They try to be creative for creativity’s sake.
 
But Gen AI is not meant to impress.  
It is meant to solve.
 
So instead of starting with tools, we started with observation.
 
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆?
 
They feel cold in lecture halls.  
They feel hungry during late study nights.
2 simple human needs.
 
From there, the idea emerged.
 
A Toaster Jacket.  
A jacket that keeps you warm and warms your food.
 
Ridiculous? Maybe.  
But powerful as a learning vehicle.
 
Because the real lesson was not the jacket.
 
It was the 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀s.
 
• Observe the problem before touching the prompt.  
• Translate the problem into a clear use case.  
• Use Gen AI to prototype quickly.  
• Test whether it actually solves something.
 
This is how I approach AI training.
 
Not tool-first. 
BUT Problem-first.
 
That is why the session resonated.
 
When learners see 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗔𝗜 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀, creativity unlocks naturally. 

They stop asking, “What prompt should I use?” and start asking, “What problem am I solving?”
 
Grateful for the opportunity to inspire this mindset shift.
 
Because whether in Singapore or Shanghai, the best Gen AI learners do not start with prompts.
 
They start with problems.

Hope this is food for thought for you if you just began your learning journey into Gen AI only.

1. Asking vague questions and expecting magic
2. Copy-pasting outputs without refining tone or context
3. Treating AI like an answer machine instead of a thinking partner
4. Ignoring data confidentiality and workplace boundaries
5. Using AI for tasks… but not building workflows for scale
6. Thinking AI literacy is optional, not a career advantage
 
The real leaders aren’t just “trying AI.”
 
They are 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗜-𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵, smarter decisions, and 𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗽𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀.
