Ex-life science, got very good at and patient with working out the little movements of molecules, upstream or downstream. Guess that inspired my data engineering career without me realizing. Analyst turned a data engineer. Didn't want to create bs reports anymore, and definitely capable enough to prevent more garbage from going in. My analyst users trust my numbers and can communicate to me why numbers are wrong. Started out in Finance, moved to Program Management, then to Supply Chain/Operations, Customer/Marketing analytics and now in SaaS. Fully appreciated how important data is and what it means to each function. You can count on me to show decision makers the delta improvement of having mediocre data (existing state) VS having production-grade, high quality data (future state). Not really a political animal. Just want to play nice because we might really need each other one day and be the only option we have at the time. I will explain things patiently because I don't expect you to understand it the first time or the way I understand it. I will listen to you with my full attention because that's how I would want to be treated. I get paid in candy bars for ranting constructively on Medium, and it sharpens my communication skills anyway. What a win-win. Please come say hi but don't be rude, or literally just say "hi".
