Here are 4 lessons learned:

1/ Sales ≠ cash in the bank

Signing deals feels great until you calculate tool costs, lead spend, and infrastructure investments. 

2/ Delivery eats your sales time

Super obvious fact but
You can't spend time closing when you're 100% of the time buried in client operations.

Learning to prioritize is the real skill.

3/ Most experiments will fail

• Some campaigns flop
• Some ICPs don't convert
• Messaging doesn't hit home

Your job isn't to be right - it's to test fast and find the signals that work.

4/ Key lesson - I can't handle it all by myself

Talking big on LinkedIn is easy

Proving it by doing the job is hard

2 months ago, I started an agency

I've been thinking about doing this for years:

• I won't survive the competition
• People lost trust in Leagen agencies
• Entrepreneurship is about others, but not me

I turned 31 - the clock started ticking louder.

If not now, when?

So we launched.

At first, with just 3 projects, it felt like freelancing.

Everything changed when I signed up 4 more projects.

• Couldn’t handle it solo - had to expand fast
• The old “freelance” playbook broke at scale
• We didn't hit quota for all our projects

So we had to rebuild the engine while driving it:

1. Added 2 more hires + 2 freelancers
2. Made an action plan for every project
3. Started documenting everything
4. Made a deliverability audit for all projects

Some accounts are back on track. One still behind - we’re fixing it.

This was the most stressful month this year.

but it's all worth it.

P.S. Should I keep sharing my journey of building an agency?

Most founders hit the same 4 stages

before saying "outbound is dead"

1. Set up AI SDR
2. Trying to handle all by themselves
3. Hire an SDR/agency expecting instant results
4. Start scaling without understanding what actually works

It's all about the execution, but it can't invent your GTM strategy.

Here's what to do instead:
(save this for later)

1) Define ICP

• Company: geo, industry, headcount, revenue/funding, dept size, tech stack, growth/hiring.
• Persona: title/seniority, goals, pains, objections, decision path, channels.

2) Build a Persona → Problem → Impact table

• Problem: the job-to-be-done friction they actually feel.
• Impact: cost of inaction (time, money, risk, morale).
• Your outcome: what changes (metric + timeframe).

3) Start with non-scalable:

Personal network
Alumni network

Track intros in a simple sheet. Follow up twice on stalled intros.

4) Add scalable outbound 

Email:

• Set up secondary domains
• Build small batches of leads to test
• Sequence (2–3 weeks, 3–5 touches)
• Each touch = new value (new angle, proof, or question)

LinkedIn:

• Connect only with top targets (recent activity, profile visits, mutual connections).
• DM angle = event/signal/context

5) Scoreboard 

Replies ≥2%, positives ≥20% of replies, win ≥20%.
Weekly: kill the worst angle/list, double the best. Document what changed.

Do this for 4-6 weeks before declaring anything “dead.”

Outbound isn’t magic. It’s a system.

Why a template you copied from a "LinkedIn guru"

Has less than 1% Reply Rate

Because 2,000 other people are sending the exact same thing.

You copied the text, but not the logic

and let's be honest, many of these templates are just short, but has no sense.

Instead, use your own words to explain what you have to offer.

Check:

• Is this email about me or my prospect?
• Can my offer be helpful for this person, why?
• Did I name a clear outcome (metric + timeframe)?

Then:

Is it easy to read?
Is it mobile friendly?
Do I speak this way?

If not, remove:

1. Adjectives - they weaken your text
2. Corporate jargon
3. Buzzwords 

Use this 4-line skeleton:

• Trigger: “Noticed you’re hiring 4 CS reps after the DACH launch.”
• Problem: “Teams drown in tickets during expansion.”
• Outcome: “We cut first-response ~35% in 30 days at {similar logo}.”
• CTA: “Worth a 10-min compare?”

Cool - collect good examples, improve copywriting skills.
Not cool - ≤1% Response rate
