How did you start 2026? 


We spent the morning on the beach.
With a fire, coffee and tea, traditional kransekage, a dip into the sea at 4.7 °C (bbbbrrhhhh 🥶) and even a rainbow.

I will take the rest of the week easy and use it to plan the next months with focus and intention.

I am excited. I think it will be a good year. 🙂

If you want decision-making to feel lighter, more focused and more aligned in 2026, focus on one thing.


Regulate your nervous system.
And understand how you actually think - not how you believe you think.

For a long time, I didn’t know this.
What I did know was that whenever things felt heavy, messy or overwhelming, I went for a walk.

Without a plan or intention.
I just walked.

Somewhere after 20–30 minutes, something always shifted.

Decisions felt less overwhelming.
Problems stopped feeling so personal.
My thinking had more space.

For years, I thought I was just “clearing my head”.
Only later did I learn what was actually happening: walking was calming my nervous system, reducing threat signals in my brain, and giving my thinking room to work again.

In other words:
I wasn’t getting clarity because I was thinking harder.
I was thinking better because my body felt safer.

Most decision fatigue isn’t a lack of intelligence, but a state issue.

When your nervous system is under pressure:
- urgency starts to feel like truth, even when it’s not
- overthinking feels responsible, not exhausting
- familiar or “safe” choices feel more attractive than aligned ones
- your brain optimises for certainty, not for what actually matters

That’s not your logic, but your brain doing exactly what it’s designed to do.

A few things that genuinely help  in practice:

1️⃣ Change your state before you decide
Before you reach for frameworks, lists or pros and cons, shift your body first.
Walk. Breathe slower than usual. Look at something far away instead of a screen.
Clarity doesn’t come from thinking harder. It comes from creating safety first.

2️⃣ Name what’s driving the choice
Ask yourself: “What is this decision really driven by right now?”
Fear? Habit? Urgency? The need for certainty?
Just naming this often creates enough distance to think more clearly.

3️⃣ Reduce instead of optimising
When everything feels heavy, the brain is usually trying to optimise.
Instead, remove one option. Or one requirement. Or one assumption.
The brain makes better decisions with less, not more.

4️⃣ Get curious about your patterns
Notice when you tend to rush, freeze, avoid, or wait for certainty before moving.
These aren’t personality traits. They’re nervous-system patterns.
And once you can see them, you’re no longer fully inside them.

Better decisions don’t come from more pressure or better tools.
They come from a calmer nervous system and a basic understanding of how the brain works.

That’s when thinking gets lighter.
And decisions start to feel aligned again.
