Jack is an accomplished building code consultant with project experience in Canada, Singapore, Middle East, and North Africa. Jack has advanced analytical skills with the ability to recognize and address fire safety challenges and develop practical engineering solutions.

With each project Jack engages both internal and external stakeholders in positive, collaborative relationships and looks to bring value to each project by taking a holistic approach to fire and life safety and working closely with other disciplines to deliver optimal solutions.

Jack has presented at many conferences and authored articles on fire safety both in Canada and internationally. Mr. Keays has served as a committee member for the development of standards and in advancing the field of fire science as it applies to the built environment. 

Jack provides building and fire code consulting services from conceptual design stage through to successful completion. Services include identifying valuable building code design options, developing equivalent approaches to prescriptive building and fire code requirements, coordinating with the project team and building officials, and reporting on the applicable design approaches.

I have extensive experience in the preparation of building and fire code audits and assessments, of new and existing buildings, for engineers, developers and building owners. Project experience includes hospitals, residential. retail, industrial buildings, telecommunication, and large mining facilities. In addition to design work, I have completed many fire investigations of structures and equipment.

I developed Fire Strategies for buildings in many jurisdictions such as UAE, Qatar, Libya, India, Oman and Saudi Arabia.

Conducting independent 3rd party inspection, on behalf of the owner and local authority, to determine if the fire safety features within the building were installed and functioning in line with the design specification.

Preparing submissions to the local authority to gain approval from new projects

Senior Fire Engineer/Building Code Consultant

Working with clients from the concept design stage right through to final approval and audit the final development. 

•	Reviewing plans against NFPA and local codes,
•	Developing fire and evacuation strategies,
•	Conduct fire engineering analysis where required
•	Preparing drawings for submission to the AHJ,
•	Liaise with the AHJ right through the process 

Working on  a wide variety of buildings including high rise, hospitals, industrial, warehouse, shopping malls and Mosques.

CFD and FDS studies of atria, complex tunnel networks, jet fans, malls and large assembly buildings.

Outside of technical work other areas of responsibility included client management and business development.
