    And so it begins…

How are you working to solve your challenges?

No, it’s not the nose of a bat. As my brother says, it’s my “elf” ear (look at the top). While your ear may not look like an elf, I’m sure you have an ear or two. If you’ve got ears, why are you listening to AirPods? There’s something better out there, and in fact, a lot of something(s) better out there.

A few months ago I would have been a “duh, of course!” guy, but these are really items to think about, regardless of your station in life.

Don't you wanna be happy? Everyone is chasing happiness from outside sources, when it's all a game of inside, within yourself, talking to yourself...getting validation from the outside is a zero game. Hope this helps someone today!

Tubbed rear end, enough trunk space for a families luggage, whoo boy. Just add a hellcat and we’re going to take that hurst (or cheetah) shifter all the way!

Here’s a shorter review of the KEF | Kent Engineering & Foundry Mu7 headphones. If you like what you hear (pun intended), check out my Amazon Affiliate link in the comment section! Full Transparency, I do get a few bucks from the purchase price.

It may look like Kubernetes has me de-feet-ed. At this point I realized I need to learn a lot more before I go into a bare bones installation. Don’t get me wrong, “Kubernetes the hard way” has been fun so far, but with the errors I am having connecting all the VMs together, I need to learn a bit more before continuing. Thanks to eBay, I have “Kubernetes: Up & Running” (one of the writers is Kelsey Hightower who did Kubernetes the hard way) and thanks to Amazon I have “The Kubernetes Bible”. In short, while I might be stuck now, it won’t be for long!

If you're a federal worker required to be back in the office, listen up! Along with your time, sweatpants and Netflix, you miss your podcasts. Sure, you could listen to podcasts at home, but you've got to make dinner, put the kids to bed, walk the dog... Here's a better idea. I just reviewed the KEF Mu7 headphones (https://lnkd.in/ed_mdTrv) and they are just perfect for podcasts on a long commute on a noisy train. If you like what you see and hear in the review, you can pick then up on Amazon here (https://amzn.to/4hGGraG)*. If the Mu7 isn't your style, no worries. I will be reviewing other headphones as well. *As a full disclosure, I do get a few bucks if you use the link.

I am not Jacob Eberhart or jacobeberhart. At least, that's what Apple tells me. I am an admin. Just because you imported "your" previous files, doesn't mean that Time Machine on Mac works 100%. From High Sierra to Sequoia, permissions didn't *quite* translate. While I didn't follow the principle of least permissions, I am looking to make files in the darned directory, so I did what I had to do.

Someone was NOT too pleased… As I interrupted his neighborhood watch. Shout-out to the dogs co-working with us these days! Have a good weekend!

What does IT Support have in common with a bag of chips? Besides being corny. You have IT Support to solve the problem of…needing IT Support and you have the bag of chips to solve the problem of hunger (or snacking). Chips may solve another problem, such as distracting a cranky toddler, and IT Support may solve another problem, such as an “informal therapist”, but your main purpose is as IT Support is to support. However, a bag of chips is one dimensional. It exists only to serve. Until AI becomes more widely adopted, IT Support are humans with human emotions, wants, needs and occasional breaks to use the bathroom or walk the dog. Notice I said emotions. People have emotions, and leaders need to work with their emotions to help their staff succeed. In short: If you are in IT Support, your goal is to support. If you manage It Support, your goal is to nurture your IT Support to be in the right educational, emotional and adaptable state to provide IT Support. If the chip baker fails, then the chip doesn’t provide a solution to hunger. If an IT Manager fails, then the IT Support can’t provide its solution to solve computer issues.

Let’s translate some children’s books to LinkedIn. “Jack and the Beanstalk” becomes: “How I increased my beanstalk by 500% in 3 days” “I know an old lady who swallowed a fly” becomes: “What swallowing a fly taught me about B2B sales” Goldilocks and the 3 Bear” becomes: “ How I pivoted to a Bear market in five easy steps”

When did you say “wow” and actually mean it? 3 times for me. 1st I listened to “Hotel California” at Community Audio in Philly on Osborne speakers. 2nd I was in the passenger seat of a test drive of a Bentley Continental when my dear departed uncle floored it. 3rd I tried the Superb IPA from Alewerks Brewing Company. I am so excited because I am going to showcase more “wow” moments for me, starting Monday (3/17).

I have to complain about iPhones. I bought a Bluetooth headset that can use APTx, a compression codex for audio by Qualcomm that is superior to anything else in the market, but I have a iPhone that uses AAC compression, which unfortunately is inferior. Without knowing it, I am missing out on audio quality. I am normally not a fan of android but in this case androids can support APTx if they are newer models. Rats!

                  1

Cord aren’t going away, but Bluetooth is the future. I’m looking forward to going on a journey with you to talk about the best in Bluetooth headphones!

We're all guilty of this, especially IT Managers. You're listening to someone, but in your head you're preparing your response. Why? Because you went through that, or went there or "oh that happened to me at XYZ corp!" It's important to be mindful to listen to understand. Here are some tips that will help you out. https://lnkd.in/ekHtJjHn If you've read "Radical Listening" (https://lnkd.in/em7VdfaA) what did you think? Is it a book that should have been an article or is it worth a read?

For those impacted by changes to the gov't, I know it's tough. Regardless of beliefs, folks worked for the gov't with the idea that it's a stable choice. For many, it's not a stable choice anymore. You have so much more value than you realize. I have no incentive here, but please, if you think you could be an entrepreneur, contact Brian Gallagher. If you want to learn how to thrive in the future of tech, check out Jean Rodrigues. If you want to find a new job or career path, check out Neal Wendel. If you want to rant or let off some steam, send me a message.

There are a lot of variables here, but I don't agree with how the columnist responded. We will never know the situation of both parties involved. Never. Because of this, we have to assume both sides have equal blame. Let's say the manager was aggressive and the employee was dismissive. The manager should be disappointed but calm. I'm sure many managers have been really mad but held back from yelling, to respect their employees. This manager was in the wrong here, should apologize and say why they got upset. I have been very lucky that when I have done something wrong (I know, sounds unusual right? kidding) that I was told why it was wrong. It was then my job as the employee to acknowledge the situation. Without too many insights into the situation, it appears this employee did not acknowledge the mistake. Dude. Acknowledge you made a mistake and move on. If the manager can acknowledge they were aggressive, you can acknowledge you made a mistake. This doesn't mean the manager is correct in being aggressive, it's just the right thing to do. In summary, I see both sides. Call me a millennial, a wimp, a weenie, whatever, but I do not enjoy jobs where I am yelled at. I also do not enjoy jobs where staff act with impunity and do not feel a need to apologize for their mistakes. Both things can be true.
