BTC FP is the 1st European Bitcoin Equities ETF launched by Melanion Capital in October of 2021 on the French and Italian exchange to provide European investors with exposure to the daily price movements of Bitcoin. With over 3% of the global population using cryptocurrencies (300 million people) and over 13000 cryptos worldwide, the crypto’s role in daily life is becoming real. Bitcoin is the oldest and biggest cryptocurrency, with over a trillion-dollar market cap. It was first introduced in a white paper in late 2008 and designed as an alternative way to central banking through decentralisation. The idea turned out to be a real scientific breakthrough that paved the path to blockchain technology awareness. Bitcoin is accepted as an exchange for cash in 280000 locations around 73 countries. I started my journey with bitcoin in 2014 with a vision of a global currency, accepted everywhere, that would free us from so many fees. From this utopian initial idea, bitcoin made me learn more about finance and human beings than Warren Buffet or the financial markets ever taught me. Here are some of the solutions that Bitcoin mass adoption offers to the financial market: - Gold 2.0 - being energy-intensive, Bitcoin is considered a better store of value than gold. - Monetary System 2.0 - Bitcoin can reduce the money-printing mechanism that profits only the wealthiest. - Financial Inclusion - Bitcoin and the entire crypto-currency infrastructure surrounding it can take banking to the most remote places to help minorities and reduce poverty. - Individual Sovereignty 2.0 - being decentralised, bitcoin escapes government controls. - Technological Revolution - Decentralised Finance allows anybody with internet access to borrow or lend crypto-currencies and get insured directly.
