It's never too late to change your life.

For 40 hours a week, I'm a Professor.

I love to teach.

Last week, my nursing students graduated, and I watched them receive their degrees. Some cried, some screamed, and many spent the whole day smiling.

Graduation has to be the best part of the job.

All of my students have full-time careers, some work in hospitals, many of them have children, and some are carers. 

I have students who travel from different states to come to my classes.

Why?

Because they want to help.

They also want to be great nurses.

As doctors, we get a lot of recognition because of the fancy title, the years of studying, the sleepless nights, the crazy shifts, and the hope we give to families.

But we cannot function without nurses, who often don't get the credit that they deserve. They work extremely hard too! 

But why stop there? There are so many people in healthcare, fitness, wellness, etc. that don't get official credit because they're not doctors, yet, they're improving lives single every day. 

So, to all of you who are out there, making people's lives better.

I just want to say thank you!

You guys are the real MVP's.

Sleeping for 8 hours a night doesn’t make you lazy.


Even our kids know this, they spend half of the day sleeping as newborns (yes, that's my daughter as a baby, not a random child 😂).

Don’t let hustle culture fool you.

“Wake up at 2 a.m.”
“Live on 5 hours of sleep”
“Work, work, work, & work more”

I value work, I probably slept for less than 4 hours a night on average while at medical school, but this isn’t a sustainable practice, nor should it be worshipped.

One of the most productive things that you can do is sleep.

💤 If you want to make better decisions, you need quality sleep.
💤 If you want to be productive during the day, then go for 8 hours of sleep.
💤 If you want to keep your emotions in check, guess what you need? Quality sleep.

You can maximize your time by sleeping less, but what’s the point of having lots of time if you don’t have the energy to use it properly?

Not to mention that less than 6 hours of sleep has been linked to many health problems like heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke, obesity, and depression.

So here’s my take: if you want to be productive and healthy, be more like a newborn baby and focus on getting at least 7 hours of quality sleep.

One of the most productive things you can do is rest.

I've lived in 3 countries and practiced medicine in 2.

One where healthcare is public and the other where healthcare is private.

The U.S. system is a business. It profits from people being sick.

For example:

In the U.S. when someone has type 2 diabetes, we are told to offer them medicine. The person will be able to stabilize their blood sugar and manage their symptoms, but we won't address the underlying issue.

So, when people like Mark tell me I'm biased towards nutrition and healthy living because of my business, he's right because that's what I believe in. But that's like saying firefighters are biased towards water.

I'm here every day sharing my knowledge for free because this stuff matters, and I have seen way too many people die from preventable diseases.

I do have my own practice where I offer services to people who need additional help, but that doesn't make what I'm saying any less true.

This is the reason why we based our business around nutrition and fitness and around drugs, even though I've had 15 years of pharmacology jammed down my throat.

The food that you eat matters more than you think.

Such valuable content but "I hate myself for overeating"

I will reply to everyone and I am really behind (sorry) but I know someone needs to hear this message:

Please stop being so harsh on yourself. Judging yourself doesn't help. 

I know it's easier said than done but I promise you that healthy living isn't easy especially in the U.S. 

If it was, we'd all be doing it, I'd have no followers and the healthcare industry wouldn't be worth $810 billion. 

It's requires:

👉 Discipline
👉 Knowledge
👉 Community
👉 Accountability
👉 Strong mindset
👉 Investment (time and money)
👉 Rebellion (you will have to say no to family, friends & co-workers)

It also requires positivity and acceptance. 

Don't beat yourself up. The negativity will only make you feel worse, which will probably lead to comfort eating and more guilt.

Instead tell yourself positive things, smile at yourself in the mirror and accept that we are all on a journey of progression not perfection. 

Keep smiling and show yourself some love.

I published my first post on LinkedIn on April 21st 2023. 

Alecia Porter-Bent was tired of me rambling about nutrition and biology all of the time. 

She said 'Jaiden, I love that you want to share but I think there are more people out there that need to hear this.'

She set up my LinkedIn account, branded it, wrote my first post but I wasn't ready to click publish.

Around 2 months later, after speaking on a panel with other doctors, one of the panelists said, 'hey, create some content, the world needs to hear your knowledge.' I agreed.

So, I decided to listen to a random stranger over my girlfriend (And, I'm still paying the price for that mistake 😂 ).

On Friday 21st, we hit publish.

That one post hit 1 million impressions, almost 14,000 reactions and suddenly my community was formed and I've never looked back.

We have written 200+ posts. Published 36 newsletter. Hosted corporate speaking events.

Let’s be healthier and add butter to our coffees??? Yeah, because that makes sense.

It has become very popular for people following low carb and keto diets to add butter to their coffee. It’s supposed to be a low carb alternative to eating breakfast. 

But we are using ‘butter.’ BUTTER!

Someone asked me about “bulletproof” coffee and after they described how it’s made, I’m like “come on man, it should be called insurance proof coffee.” 

Listen, I get it. Butter makes everything taste like a warm hug from Beyoncé, but let's not kid ourselves into thinking it's a health food. 

Butter tastes amazing but it’s still butter. That creamy goodness? Yeah, it's loaded with saturated fat, which isn’t the best thing for your arteries. 

Even grass fed butter is only healthy compared to other butter.

Again have some every now and then in your coffee if you like it, put it on a sandwich or add it to some popcorn because moderation is key and you have to enjoy life but, let’s not pretend that butter is healthy. 

Putting an entire stick of butter in your coffee every morning isn’t moderation. Sorry guys. 

Maybe consider some heart-friendly unsaturated alternatives like avocado or olive oil that won't have your doctor giving you the side-eye at your next checkup 👀 

Your taste buds might protest, but your heart will thank you.

I launched my group coaching program 7 days ago.

For the next 2 weeks, they will be trialing intermittent fasting. 

Many of you know that I'm a regular intermittent faster, I do the 16/8 fast on most days but it's not for the reasons that you might think. 

When most people think of fasting, they instantly think of fat loss, yes, that's one benefit but there's way more to it than that.

Every time we go to sleep, we fast, allowing our body to focus on cell repair. Then we wake up and eat sugar filled or high carb meals that spike our glucose levels, forcing our bodies to work even harder throughout the day. 

This is how inflammation occurs. 

Instead of "breaking your fast" at "breakfast" we increase the fast window for a few extra hours, this allow our body to burn fat from our fat reserves and continue focusing on cell repair a.k.a autophagy.

Then, when we do break our fasts, it's with high protein/high fiber meals, not with XXXL pizza's. We eat foods that will nourish our body's and improve gut health keeping us feeling full. 

This alone can:

🔥Boost your energy levels
🔥Improve concentration
🔥Improve mental clarity
🔥Reduce inflammation
🔥Burn fat

Intermittent fasting is all about timing not starving yourself until you’re malnourished. 

Instead of counting calories or cutting out entire food groups, it’s about WHEN you eat. It's about eating with intention.

It's also about focusing on hydration. Which many people forget about.

Who knew that not shoving food in your face 24/7 could have such incredible benefits? 😉
