#Gold Just Had Its Worst Day Since 2020


Gold plunged 5–6% on October 21, wiping out over $2.1 trillion in market cap in just one day.

And #Bitcoin’s feeling it too. The crypto giant dropped more than 2%, dragged down by a record 0.85 correlation between the two so-called “safe-haven” assets.

So what’s happening?

* Overheated rally: Gold surged 60% this year, including 25% in just two months. A correction was overdue.
* Profit-taking: $34B flowed into gold in ten weeks as traders finally cashed out.
* Stronger dollar: The greenback rose 0.4%, making gold pricier overseas.
* Less fear: Renewed optimism over U.S.–China trade talks reduced demand for havens.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin’s dip wasn’t about crypto weakness. It was sympathy pain.
When gold sneezes, Bitcoin catches a cold.

But here’s the twist. Gold is state-driven, Bitcoin is crowd-driven. One’s tied to sovereignty, the other to self-sovereignty.
Both may correct, but only one can’t be printed.
