I got into food as a young boy and progressed into a professional catering career, becoming a qualified chef who has: knowledge of all sections of the kitchen and professional food service, recipe development, menu planning and budgeting, managed teams of chefs, delivered high quality, high volume food standards, and enjoyed achieving awards including Restaurant of the Year 3 years running. I then went on to study food science and nutrition and started my own consultancy in 2006. As a Registered Nutritionist (ANutr), my expertise includes: allergen legislation and labelling, food safety inspections, menu design, recipe/product development, special diets, food hygiene ratings, food safety management systems and nutritional consulting. I have worked with businesses across the food sector including: pre-start home based businesses, local authorities, schools, colleges and universities, food manufacturers, and hospitality and retail businesses. I have always loved technology, from tinkering with computers to learning to code and designing websites. I have an inherent ability to understand how technology works and teach other people how to use it, and went on to work in further education as a fully qualified tutor/trainer and have written and delivered over 40 courses in food and ICT. As an entrepreneur, I am tenacious and highly driven; I relish a challenge. I’m an innovator and love to think outside the box and come up with new ideas, then research and test them. I’ve set up and run 4 businesses in the last 15 years including a food technology company. I’m well connected in the world of food, technology and business and am keen to meet new people with a shared interest in any of these areas. I live in County Durham and am passionate about the people and places within it. In my spare time (when I have some!) I enjoy gardening, fishing, cycling, cooking (occasionally!), and countryside walks with my wife.
