And the rules changing in the UK’s public sector contracts are officially here! 👇 

If you are bidding for a major public contract, compliance failure is now a BIG risk.

Here is a simple 3-step compliance checklist to get you started: 

1. Shift in liability

↳PPN 002 comes with new legal risks for your business. 
↳All social value commitments now have to be translated into explicit KPIs, which have to be added to contracts even before submitting your bid! 

2. New BIG data

↳If you are using excel sheets to track your social value efforts. You might just be in trouble. 😨 
↳The new legislation required granular data on staff person-hours spent on in-work progression and wellbeing outcomes. 

(Think mental health and lifestyle disorder data!) 

3. Consider data bias

↳Using AI to help streamline KPI tracking is a great start, BUT be wary of data bias.
↳Systems trained on bias data might lead to communities most in need being ignored, so ensure any AI KPI tracking IS reviewed.

The PPN 002 legislation's 'fine print' will help you win more public sector contracts! But with the major deadline less than 24 hours way, they are easy to miss.

In the 50+ pages of legislation, they're buried, so here they are:

💡 Kinship Care Leave 
Within the 'Fair Work' outcomes, companies are encouraged to provide paid time off for employees who become kinship carers (raising a relative's child), signaling a new focus on supporting diverse family structures.

💡 Tackling Domestic Abuse 
The 'Take Back Our Streets' mission goes beyond general crime reduction and puts a specific focus on reducing domestic abuse, requiring clear plans for safeguarding, training, and partnerships with local charities around this topic.

💡 Anchor Institutions 
PPN 002 introduces a new concept of "anchor institutions" like hospitals and universities. It encourages companies to build solid, strategic partnerships with these organisations to drive real local change, instead of just running one-time community events.

💡 Specific Wellbeing Metrics 
Employee wellbeing now requires specific data, moving beyond general policy. Bidders may be evaluated on their plans for occupational health services, vaccination uptake, and how they align with specific NHS initiatives.

Considering these details can:
→ Save you from being disqualified on a technicality
→ Unlock new opportunities by aligning with specific government missions
→ Give you a massive edge over competitors who are still on the old system knowing them is crucial!
